Chapter III
Adrianna's P.o.V
"Miss Perkins, we have landed." A guy, I don't know what his name is, woke me up from my sleep.
I looked outside the window of my father's private jet and I can see that we're now on the ground.
"Thank you. . ." I said not knowing what to call this guy and about to stand up when he spoke.
"Matthew, Miss." He said and I rolled my eyes afterwards. "Whatever." I said then stood up from where I was seated.
I went out of the jet and straight to the dark gray Rolls-Royces our family owns. My chauffeur bowed then opened the door for me.
After settling down, I heard the engine roared to life then off we go. I fished my phone inside my bag after hearing it ring.
"Hello mother." I said. I can hear some chitchats at the background and after a few seconds it became quiet.
"Hello Adrianna. Are you there already?" My mother asked me like I'm one of her employee. I sighed in disappointment.
"Yes, mother. I'm almost at the apartment." I said. "Where's dad?" I asked afterwards. You see the difference? I'm much closer to my father than with my mother. My mother is so hooked in our business that she doesn't have time for me anymore. Though my father is busy, he makes sure that he'll have time for me.
"He's on his way to the airport." She said nonchalantly. And let me guess, another meeting to close a deal or something. I'm a bit disappointed. He didn't call or told me earlier that he's going somewhere.
"Okay. I need to go mother." I said then she told me to take care of myself, like I always do, and then she hangup.
And then another ring was heard from my phone. It's dad!
"Hello dad!" I greeted him happily. "Hello sweetie. How are you?" He asked sweetly making me smile. Always the sweet one.
"I'm fine dad. A bit exhausted from flight, but still good." I said then I remembered what mother told me. "Hey dad? Why didn't you tell me you're going away?" I said pouting. I heard him chuckle a bit.
"I bet you're pouting right now sweetie." He said but I didn't say anything back. He cleared his throat then spoke again. "I'm sorry sweetie. I didn't know I have a meeting with the new clients. It's actually urgent." He explained. Well. What can I do. It's for our business.
"Okay dad. I understand. Take care okay? I love you." I said softly to him. I miss my dad already. It's been three hours since I last saw him at our mansion in Cali. If classes will not start tomorrow, I'm still in Cali for sure.
"Okay sweetie. Take care of yourself too okay? I love you." He said then he hangup the phone.
And as soon as I put my phone back inside my bag, the chauffeur told me we have arrived. I went out of the car with the chauffeur trailing behind me with my bags. My apartment is located at the tenth floor of this building. It's a good thing there's an elevator here 'cos if there's none, I'll prolly stay in a hotel instead. Which my mother will disapprove of, saying I'm just wasting her money.
Which I'm not. If I were to ask I wouldn't be in this building 'cos it looks old outside and I have lots of nerdy neighbors here. But I have no choice. My mother and I had a deal. I'll study in this university, far from California, but I'll live like a normal student. Oh don't ask why I have a chauffeur. They only fetch me if I'm coming or leaving this state.
I opened the door of my apartment. Everything's the same just like last semester.
"You can just place them anywhere." I said to the chauffeur and he left afterwards. I slouched on my couch and opened my laptop at the same time. Checked a few emails and messages from my girl friends. They said they're so excited to see me. Who wouldn't be. I'm like their goddess or something. Haha. Well those girls I'm referring to are those who wanted to get inside my cirlce of friends. Well, goodluck with that.
