Barry woke up and yawned a big yawn. He rubbed his eyes and stumbled out of bed the washcloth falling off his forehead. "Oops." He muttered groggily and picked it up. He slowly walked into the STAR labs cortex and spotted Anabelle's brown silky hair as she spun around in her chair. He caught a glimpse of her shiny eyes and her breathtaking smile. "Hey." She says her smile brightening. All he can say is a whisper. "Hey." He clears his throat hoping to be able to speak because he has a dinner scheduled with his dad tonight and he doesn't want to cancel. He coughes a bit and feels his throat clearing up. "H-Hi." He gets out in a speaking voice and smiles. She smiles back at him. This makes it seem as if the world stopped. He quickly snaps out of his trance and says something he wasn't expecting to say. "Um, I was wondering if um, you know, if you could maybe um... Go out with me?" He says the last part very quiet and before she can answer he quickly adds, "I mean, it would be fun! We could go out for ice cream and get to know each other."
"I would love that."
"Um I can take you on Wednesday after work if that's alright."
"That's great." She says and Barry laughs a nervous laugh.
"Um thank you for taking care of me, again. I feel a lot better. My headache's cleared up and I just have a cough." He says breaking the silence.
"No problem." A smile forms on her lips and she blushes slightly. He can't stop thinking about her until dinner tonight when life takes a heart-splintering turn.
There is a handsome gentlemen standing across the room. He just asked her out. She feels like she's won a million dollars. She noticed the way he laughed, the way his smile looked like the light of the world, and the happy noise rumbling out of his lips, his eyes full of passion. His laugh couldn't be explained, it was joyfull and lighthearted. That is one of the many things she misses.
Dinner
It was a going to be peaceful night, just Barry and his father, sitting at the table eating nothing fancy, just pizza. When his dad walked through the doors they hugged and exchanged how-are-yous. They settled in their seats and Barry involuntary coughed a few times. His dad gave him a look of concern.
"Barry."
"Dad."
"I know you're sick."
"I'm not sick." Barry replied stubbornly.
"I'm a doctor, those coughes don't sound good, and I watch the news." He says with a pointed look. Barry's face goes red at the thought of not only the entire city seeing that video but his dad? "Well I feel better now." Barry says not giving up.
"Okay but I'm just looking out for you, Flash or not, you're still my son." He said and Barry nodded.
They talked about little things, Barry's date that he's going on, some odd cases in his lab, metahumans.
"So is she pretty?"
"Who?" Barry asked but he honestly knew exactly who he was talking about.
"Anabelle."
"The prettiest."
"Does she treat you well?" He asks being an overprotective father.
"Yes, she took care of me when I was sick and is the kindest person I have ever met. She's also different, I feel like I can tell her anything."
"Are you going to tell her about you know-."
"Yes, on our date." Barry smiles daydreaming about how amazing the date will be. His dad gives a nod of approval.
When they finish they both stand up to clear their spots when it all goes terribly wrong. Zoom speeds in and grabs his father. "Our story continues flash." He says and runs away with his dad. The world slows down as a wave of terror washes over him. He runs after him and they end up in the living room where his mother was murdered. "Dad." Barry says breathing heavily. "Dad?" He says walking towards them.
"It's poetic. Returning to your childhood home." Zoom says in a sickening voice.
"Jay. Don't do this. Alright I'm begging you, I'm begging you. Take me. Kill me!" Barry says terrified of losing his father.
"NO!" His dad screams.
"You still won't believe me that you and I are the same."
"Come on, come on." Barry says going into full panick mode.
"Look at me son, look at me." Thoughts are overwhelming Barry.
"So I'm gonna have to make you believe me!" Jay yells.
"Whatever happens you have made me the happiest father." He says with tears in his eyes.
"Dad." Barry says shaking his head.
"This time your gonna watch your parent die just like I did."
"No."
"NO!" Barry yells as Jay steps away from his father slowly.
"This is what's gonna make you JUST LIKE ME!"
"JAY!"
Zoom shoves his fist through Henry's chest.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Barry yells but it's too late.
