One by one people started to enter the swimming pool for the swim meet, I sat at the side of the pool watching the masses of people enter the room; I felt a slight panic feeling bubbling up inside of me, but I have to do what coach always tells me to do and channel that adrenaline into my performance. Emily and her friends entered the room and stood at the top of the bleachers holding a sign that said "Go Ezra Moore!" with hearts and stars around the text, I am blushing uncontrollably as I hear Emily scream my name into the crowd; Emily is defiantly pretty she has long curly hair what is a golden honey blonde, she has warm brown eyes and a small round nose also her skin is a deep yellow tone showing her biracial heritage also she has a slight figure but with excellent cleavage if I might add. She is every guys dream but I am not sure if she is mine.

My family arrive through the entrance and sat right next to coach, my father gave me a strong stare to show his anticipation for me to win. The buzzer called for all swimmers to get into place; I stood behind my team mate Henry Briscoe. Then we were off. The first swimmer is Daniel Falcon he placed us in the lead. Next to swim is Alan he was also fast and upheld our first place stature. Next is Brooke, he is new to our team but has an amazing track record from his past school however he started to slow us down to third place, I looked at my dad and he is furious he gleamed at me with strong eyes so I look down quickly so I am not phased by him. Henry jumped in the pool very quickly and swam as hard as he could putting us in second place. As soon as Henry lifted himself out the water I dived in, the water is cold but inviting. I pushed myself like I never had before but my legs started to seizure up but I pushed through the agony but as soon as I tapped the edge I screamed.

"Help me, pull me up!" "I can't feel my Legs"

As my panic team mates and school nurse pulled me out of the pool I observed the notice board. My team came second, dad will not be happy.

At home there was a iron curtain between my Dad, Tammy and I but Kimberly could not stop talking to me.

"I love the way you cried like a baby 'I can't feel my legs!'" She mocked as she pocked my thigh.

"Shut up!"

"Young man, you do not say those words in such a manner!" Tammy yelled as she toss her car keys on the entrance dish.

"Well it's not my fault you raised a f**king annoying daughter" I mumbled under my breath.

"Go upstairs to your room now, For I have raised a sorry excuse for a son!" Dad beckoned.

I marched upstairs as quickly as I could with my sore legs and slammed my bedroom door. I opened my balcony door and gleamed at the sea in front of me, it is so vast and wide, the calm breaking of the waves soothed my ears. Looking east I watched Kyi Island, my mother use to take me there in our family boat when she felt we needed to forget about her leukaemia, it was beautiful in the evening as the sky was alive with wonderful dream like colours, the air would get heavy with salt making every breath you take clean and fresh. I peered down at our boat on the pier, dreaming of a happier time when I did not have to try so hard to please others. I decided to check my phone as I heard it buzzing in the car, I had 2 messages on my BFF group chat.

Tony: Where r u dude? I am at Dannie's Diner with ur team and Emily, forget about ur dad and his crippled view of u, u did great and Emily thinks u did amazing 2, If ur lucky she might rub ur sore legs lol, I'm just playing but please message me I am worried.

The next message was from Kate.

Kate: Ezra you did amazing today, I can't believe you upheld your position even when you was in pain, Please contacted me, I didn't go with Tony and your mates because I don't fit in that crowd but I didn't want you to be the only one to miss out on the fun. So please message me.

I messaged Kate and Tony saying I don't feel up for to night as I was tired. I placed my phone on to my hammouck, when I bend down to put my phone away I peered down at our boat again, I gave it a long stare and finally came to  a realisation. I turned off my bedroom light and grabbed my backpack then I open my bedroom door slightly to check for life, in a hast I flew down the stairs and went through the kitchen to the backdoor where I grabbed the boat keys. As of today I will be free.
