Nearly everyone took a step back. And by nearly everyone, I mean everyone except me and this one other guy I didn't know.
"Don't take all the fun Barnes!" Quinn cooed,"I already fought you!"
The other guy seemed to realize that this meant he would have to fight Quinn. He gulped, but stepped forward. He took a ready position, and Quinn did the same.
"Barnes!" He called,"You be ref. got that?"
I have a nodded and shouted,"Begin!"
The guy didn't last a minute. Quinn seemed to move with the wind(A/N:BE THE LEAF!!). One second he was there, the next he was gone. Quinn took the guy down easily, then looked to me. I realized that I would have to fight Quinn, and stepped forward as the other guy walked away.
The fight lasted a little longer than the last one. But Quinn still beat me easily. He was too fast, and always seemed so calm, like he wasn't even fighting. After I got knocked on my ass, Quinn smirked and offered me a hand. He helped me up, and we turned, only to see Colonel Phillips.
"Breaking in the new team I see," He said.
We all stood to attention, except Quinn, who who sassed in an irritated voice,"I hope you're here to give me my knife and gun beck."
"You watch how you speak kid, or you might not get 'em back at all," Phillips replied sharply, though his tone hinted that he was joking,"We have your timetable, you leave tomorrow evening, before dinner."
Quinn gave a nod then asked,"Does that mean I can have my knife and gun back?"
Phillips sighed, but smirked,"Course kid. Can't have you invading HYDRA without any gear?"
He handed over an M1911A1 and a large knife that almost looked like a small sword. Then he brought out what looked to be a combination knuckle duster-dagger.
"A BC-41," Quinn mused, sounding impressed,"You know how to please. And thanks for taking care of my smatchet. Did you have it polished?"
At this point Quinn was examining the knife/sword I assumed was a smatchet. He seemed to inspect the tiniest details on all his gear. He looked to the Colonel obviously pleased.
"Sir," He said, switching to a happy tone, "anything specific you want me to get? Anyone you want me to kill specifically?"
Phillips replied,"Just get me what you can before the invasion, then we'll talk."
Phillips walked away, and we all turned to face Quinn. Now, he was practicing different attacks on the air with an extremely pleased look on his face. Seeing what he could do with just his fists, I could only imagine the damage he could do with the few weapons he had.
"You're going to invade HYDRA with just that?" Someone called, brining me from my thoughts.
Quinn seemed amused, as usual. He never seemed to get irritated by people's comments or lack of faith.
"I've done it with less," he replied simply, then called out,"Class dismissed!"
The men dispersed, leaving me with Quinn. He had put the gun and knives into various holsters on his uniform. He turned to me, and gestured for me to follow him. We walked until we arrived at a tall tree. Quinn walked up to it, and climbed with ease until his feet were level with my eyes.
"Need a hand?" He offered, reaching down to me.
I looked at him skeptically, but took it. He easily pulled me up to his level, then continued climbing. Once we were a good 20 or 30 feet up, he stopped and looked out. The sun was just setting, turning the sky a brilliant orange. It reminded me of when Jackie and I would go up to the roof with Steve and watch the sunset. I leaned against the trunk of the tree and sighed. Quinn turn to me, asking a silent question.
"Oh, I just miss my sister," I said,"And my friend Steve. He was always trying to get into the army. He never was one to give up."
Quinn give me a knowing smirk,"I was kind of like that. I trained hard everyday, tried to learn everything I could. Eventually, they seemed to think I would make a good spy, so here I am."
