Desperately I stuck out my thumb in vain hope that a car would stop, but they all just zoomed past spraying me with icy cold water.
I sneezed and pulled my jacket around me, but it did little good.I had been standing on the side of the road for over an hour in the freezing rain and I was soaked to the skin.
Another car raced past me and I cursed them under my breath.I sighed and finally realised that I was going to have to walk to Madeburg.Ugh! I'd been walking all day apart from kindly people who occasionally gave me lifts.
I had arrived at Leipzig airport early this morning full of hope and optimism.I had wandered round the city in a daze, practising my newly learned German on waitresses where I ordered quaint German dishes like Armer Ritter, Kaiserschmarren and Rote Grüte which were all delicious!
But soon I remembered that I had no place to stay, so I went to every hotel in Leipzig but they were all full. Damn it! Why did I come here so close to Christmas? The only place they thought might have vacancies was a small town which I'd never heard of called Madeburg. So I started walking.
And thats were I was now.I rubbed my legs to see if they were still alive and started walking. To where I was going I had no idea.I suppose I thought that maybe there'd be a signpost of something.
I had been walking for around 5 minutes, when, suddenly I heard a vehicle pull over behind me.I whipped around and through the rain I saw it was a black van.I couldn't see who was driving because the rain was too heavy, but I quickly weighed up my choices:
Out here=cold and wet
In there=warm and dry
I scrambled in and let the warm air wrap around me like a blanket.
I still couldn't see because my damp hair had decided to stick to my face, but I realised that there was more than one person in the van.One of the spoke, his voice was soft and warm and he had a lovely German accent,
"Who are you and why are you walking along the Autoban alone at night?"
His voice mesmerized me and I managed to say in a rather shaky voice,"My name is Emilie and I'm lost".Another voice laughed beside me and said,"Are you going to let us see your pretty face?".
This voice too had a German accent but his voice was deeper.
I blushed, brushing my hair out of my eyes, and almost died of a heart attack!
I was sitting in a van with Tokio Hotel!
