Review: First of all, I would like to congratulate the author and also assure her that she's got a fan out of me. The characters, plotline, chapters ...Everything is perfect.
I'll be honest and say that when I saw the title, I thought it was another cliche book. I passed it-twice, but after reading the blurb and the first chapter, I was hooked.
Every chapter tells a different story that still manages to relate to the original idea yet different in itself. The character "I" narrates every single detail, emotion that he remembers to the character "you", except the ones he's forgotten (spoiler alert!).
In chapter one, for example, we see the narrator struggling to remember the color of You's eyes. While I read this, I kept my fingers crossed with hope that the narrator would remember it. For nearly an hour, I couldn't put stop reading until I came to the end of the thirteenth chapter (the book was ongoing at that time. It's complete now.)
Trying to find something negative to say about the book is like trying to teach Spongebob to drive-it's simply, impossible. No offence to Mr. Squarepants.
Chapter eight and fourteen remain my favorites. As with every other chapter, they tell another new story about the narrator and You. Only, the endings to this two chapters made me feel extremely sad for the narrator.
And another great thing about the book is, the characters have no specific gender. We, the readers, are free to picture "I" and "you" however we want to. As a boy and girl, boy and boy, girl and girl-I don't know how the author thought of this, but it's a very bold thing to do. Personally, I picture them as a boy and girl, makes it more relate-able-if that's a word-to me. The little poetry here and there, general awkwardness of the character "I" and the easy grammar makes the book so much fun to read.
I think this book is cliche-free and I recommend it to everyone who wants to read something good.
