Book Title – Survive

When I saw the promising cover and summary, I was intrigued.

Alas! It couldn't stay as at the mention of those thingamies called "DEAD"... a cliché of a zombie apocalypse-innocent sheltered nine year old with knowledge of two plus two as one-I was disappointed.

But, Oh, thou- clever author! You bummed me with splash by your smart move because you can play so much more when you have a child amidst the zombie apocalypse.

The story captures the ironic contrast of a child's innocence against the backdrop of chaos in the outside world. Sometimes, I forgot while reading that the protagonist is a child but yes, if you want to survive, you have to kill or get killed. That is where the reality lies.

The story slips into action mode with an ease giving you a good chilling aura of mystery, anticipation for what, who, when, where, how as the story progresses with pinch of suspense. The story develops the mood quite eerily.

Originality of plot, well-developed characters, easy to understand writing style, well-built dialogues and good grammar, meets our requirements- *mental ticks*

My favorite part being the scene where Ceecee has a life threatening expedition at Ryder's table. Another thing that makes it undeniably the best in the genre is the monologue of protagonist.

I will give the story a rating as (9/10). It broke the cliché and has potential.

Recommended to readers who have been gorging their eyes out just like me at every crappy, sappy sob story of zombie doing this or zombie doing that and protagonist getting eaten up with chopsticks at last. A story as good as KFC chicken (no offence vegans, but this genre asks for it) with whole lot of power pack action and thriller for sizzlers.
