Anyone who knows me personally would probably know that I am a firm believer of leaving fairytales in childhood, and that I'm not a fan of spinning off fairytales to keep them relevant. Once you grow up, grow up—that sort of thing. So, how much I loved this book by WatchingTheWatchman really came as a surprise to me.

I really mean it. Snow White was, by far, my least favourite (or most despised, if you wish) fairytale as a kid.

Muuuum, when will this squirrel stop whining? You promised me a cute pet!

Fractured Infinities is an absolutely brilliant work of genius. The Otherworldly is a genre that doesn't discriminate against worlds, and this story has certainly stood out in that respect. Told from the point of view of a mirror entity that observes reflected lives across a multiverse, Fractured Infinities has a unique blend of sci-fi and fantasy that has been done so well, it should be its own ethereal genre. The mirror, who is bothered by the not-so-pretty queen more often than it would like, is sent on a mission with a huntsman to find and kill the princess.

I like to think of the the snarky mirror as a virtual tour guide as we revisit the world of Snow White. Seriously, how unique is the idea of making an insignificant "character" of the story have a mind of its own? It had me sold right away. The mirror's contemplative voice flows so smoothly that you would treat it just as you would treat any other protagonist. You respect it, think with it, and end up loving it. The other characters are well-developed too—the author has done a great job giving the queen, princess and huntsman unique personalities beyond their cliche roles of the jealous narcissist, innocent girl and righteous man.

A bit of constructive feedback that I would give would be that some concepts might not be so accessible to people coming from a less-heavy genre. To me, the details of the physics concepts are like jewels in a treasure chest, but for someone coming from a not-so-scientific field, I can see how it would be a bit confusing if they don't have any background knowledge. I would suggest putting in a little more explanation here and there to cater to the masses, just so that your awesome story can get more readers!

Overall, I would rate this story 9/10. I recommend this story to everybody! Go read it, and prepare to have your mind blown!
