Cheryl's POV
"Seriously guys, we need to set this entire song schedule before the competition and you can't even get this one song right." Our music teacher David told us after we rehearsed the song 'Umberella' by Rihanna. We were all very frustrated that it didn't go as planned, and it wasn't a great performance to be honest. Not to sound big headed or anything, but people just weren't as good as me, my girls, Zayn and Harry. Everyone in the group could sing, it's just that they don't really have any star quality. We all know who the stars in the group are. It's me, Nicola, Kimberley, Zayn and Harry, and to be honest I start to find that quite boring. It's not that I don't love being in the spotlight and all, but I really think the group needs some new additions to make it more interesting. Especially if we want a chance at winning all this. We could really need some more talented boys. When we have duets we always get to sing with the same people and that makes it boring. They always pair me up with Zayn and the other girls sing with Harry. That's why I want more great male singers in the club. Especially Liam. He's special.
"We should have more auditions for the group. We need more performers who really stand out." I blurted out after David had told us about the other performances and such.
"We can't have auditions this late. It's only a few weeks left 'til the competition. They won't have time to learn all the songs and choreography." David told me.
"I have someone in mind actually. He's a great singer and I know he'll work really hard for this." I smiled my dimpled smile that I know everybody loves and finds hard to resist.
"Fine. Who is it?"
"Liam Payne." I told them and I saw everyone look at me with a confused look, which I just ignored, at least for now. I knew there would be a conversation about it later, especially with Zayn.
"What the..??" I heard Zayn burst out beside me. "Why would you even consider him in this group??"
"I've heard him sing and he's got a great voice. I know this could really help us."
"She's right. He's got an amazing voice and I know for a fact he would do whatever it takes for us to win this." Harry, one of Liam's best friends suddenly spoke up and I was glad someone had my back in this as I knew this would be a hard fight with the rest of the group.
"He's not joining that's for sure. And when did you even get to hear him sing? Have you been spending time with that loser ey?" Zayn asked me and laughed mockingly.
"I just heard him the other day when I was on my way to dance class. He was sitting outside." I said and rolled my eyes at him.
"Stay away from him, you don't want him to hurt your good reputation." He laughed and so did a few others so I just played along so they wouldn't think something was up.
"Of course, I just want us to actually win a competition for once and not just end as runner-ups as you guys have done every year previously." I told him smugly. "Trust me on this one, I've won more competitions alone, than all of you have done together so I know what we need to get there this time..." I continued. I know I must sound really big headed and over confident, but it's the only way I'll get them to actually listen to me when it's about something they're so against.
"Fine let's have some more auditions, not only for Liam, but for everyone in this school. Cheryl's actually right, we could use some more soloists in the group and new additions. That'll hopefully give us all more motivation for the competition." David eventually told us and I was of course pleased with his decision.
"Great!" I said and gave him a huge smile and got off my chair as the class was over and we were all ready to leave. Now all I had to do was get Liam to talk to me and to convince him that him joining would be a great thing for him.
