Dear, Rose

A Year

I have to admit, Break and I don't exactly have that ideal relationship goals but we just do our best to keep our relationship going. We've been into fights, a lot of them, but we still end up forgiving each other. Our love for each other finally came to that point where it was all worth every single argument.

A few months from now marks a year of our love. I didn't actually plan out how I was going to surprise Break but we just agreed that we'll both meet up later  at the coffee shop where we used to hang out with Four and the others and have this advance celebration because obviously they won't be here when that happens. It's a Saturday and it was completely sunny as of what the forecast said.

I just thought that I'll go simple but a bit extraordinary for me because I know he'll exert so much effort since he and the others are gonna be flying off somewhere in a few more days.

I made a photo album of all the pictures I could find of the two of us and I bought this bracelet making kit and made one made specially for him. I also prepared red velvet sponsored by my true supporter, Mom. She told me to say hi to Break for her with the use of the cupcakes.

"Rose, the cupcakes are just at the fridge, top shelf. The ones below are for your brothers. Lorry, the babysitter, will be here by ten so don't leave until she comes. Bye baby, take care of your brothers." She said as she hurriedly ran out because she has a duty to attend to while Dad is on a business trip leaving me and my siblings alone for the night.


I was busy finishing the photo album when Crawford went crawling into the living room while dragging a pillow with him. I was completely shocked at seeing him that I immediately gathered up everything on the table and placed it on the kitchen table.


It was seven in the morning and none of these two come out until later at nine. And since they're just learning how to properly walk, they still get tipsy at times.


"Hey there baby, why are you here?" I asked as I got him and carried him to the sofa. And in the past year, I finally know how to properly carry a baby.


"Why am I even asking a baby? Ugh stupid Rose." I immediately paced myself to their room which mom remains to keep it open just in case and I see Clifford sleeping innocently.


I rested Crawford next to Clifford and slowly went out trying to keep noise down. I immediately went down to put all of my mess back into my bag. When I was finished cleaning up everything, it was just in time when Alice went out from her room. 

"Don't you have school today, Alice." I said as she suddenly appears in the kitchen in search of food. "Note, the cupcakes in the top shelf are mine and the ones in the bottom are for the twins, it's your choice if you want to share." I said as I started going up the stairs again.


I was busy finishing the bracelet until I was disturbed by the constant ringing of my phone from the bedside table. Break was calling.


"Good Morning sleepy head." I said placing the phone in between my ear and shoulder as I continued finishing the bracelet.


"I'm with these four goofballs and we're currently at my apartment since they're homeless." Break said and I could hear all of them greeting me from the background.


"Hi everybody. Oh I why did you call?" I tapped on loudspeaker. Then I hear him count to three in a low voice that I could still hear.


"Happy Birthday to - wait shut up! That's not it." They all sang happy birthday but Break just started an argument with them. I can just imagine how cute they all look like while they're arguing. They were noisy for about a minute until it was all quiet.


"I was going to sing you a song with my dogs but they just sang a stupid birthday song. I'll just have to say it myself. Happy anniversary to us babe." They all said the same thing in the background and started making noises again. "Oh, they all have some things to say to you but maybe later."


"Sure. Wait, what time would we meet up?" I asked and he clearly said lunch. If he says lunch I know I'm going to arrive fashionably late.


It was already nine when I decided to get ready. I know it was a bit early but since I have nothing else to do than watch cartoons with the twins while they try to eat my hair. I took a long bath, I was so close to relaxing when I heard my phone's message ringtone, I simply just let it pass.


After a few, the caller's ringtone starts. I had no choice but to answer it or it'll continue to annoy me. I get out from the shower and dried myself up then went out of the bathroom wearing only a towel.


"What?" It's Alice. "You know I can't bring whatever you want me to bring because I don't want to." I have no idea why and what did I just say but it surely made no sense that even I have doubts on my construction of sentence.


"Okay." She said awkwardly. "I just called because I forgot to tell you that there's a letter for you which is at the living room. That's all bye!" She immediately hung up before I could even answer.


I changed into my favorite white plain v-neck,loose denim shorts paired up with black Nike shoes. This is my usual clothes, the clothes I would always wear whenever I want to keep it simple.


The doorbell rang and I was sure it was already the babysitter because it was already ten and she has never been late. I greeted her a good morning an told her that the twins were upstairs watching tv and I immediately went back to my room.


I got my small backpack that was not that small, it was just enough to put all my stuff in it. I didn't do much on my hair because I assumed it'll be messy when I get there so Why bother. It was still too early to go to the coffee shop so I just decided to stay for a while with the three of them.


"Where are you going, Rose?" Lorry asked while she was preparing food for them from the kitchen. The twins were in the living room playing whatever toys they have and I just watched a movie that was not violent, Shaun the Sheep is not violent.


"I'm just going out with some friends." It's true because I know Four, Kane, Alistair, and Tommy are my friends, except Break who's my boyfriend.


"Some friends, sure. Stay safe while you kids hang out." She made all those words seem so sarcastic and I know because it was just too obvious.


"Don't worry, we won't do anything else. We're just gonna go to the coffee shop today." Lorry is like family to us now. She's been with us since I was still the baby and she's just so comfortable to be with, like a grandma.


She'll be staying in today because Mom won't be home tonight and Dad will be coming back next week, hella schedule. I expect seeing Alice and Matthew's face later and I'm sure they'll be teasing me once I get home after them.


It was 11:30 when I decided to get going. I just held onto the cupcakes and called a cab because it's too hot to walk all the way there. It's actually a twenty-five minute drive to the coffee shop because I know there'll be traffic since there's some kind of parade going on.


I actually did not worry about a thing because just like what I said earlier, fashionably late. At least he can wait with someone unlike me who's alone. I think he visited my thoughts because my phone suddenly vibrates.

Hey, I'm already at the coffee shop. Where u at?


To: Break M.
Traffic. But I'm probably not that far.


He doesn't reply anymore. I tried to keep myself busy while the driver finds a way through the traffic. I kept myself busy by playing Angry Birds on my phone, which my brothers play not me, and then opens instagram.


"Ma'am we're here." The driver said. I immediately pay him and went out into the scorching sun.


I was shocked at looking at the sign of the shop. It clearly said 'we're closed' on the sign and the glass walls were covered up. I didn't know the shop has been renovated considering I haven't been here for months now. I patiently waited outside until someone covered my eyes with some hanky but my instincts made me smack whoever it is from behind.


The person didn't do anything but instead they, there was another one, placed another hanky on my mouth and both my hands together. I don't exactly know who they are but I'm sure that they're boys because one of them was so strong enough to carry me to wherever they plan on taking me, and I just realized that I was wearing shorts.


They removed all the handkerchiefs and I see complete darkness. I don't know what their plan is but for a second there I completely thought I was blind.


"Whoever you pervert are, you better show up. Don't make me call on, wait." I searched on both my pockets and I realized my phone wasn't there and my bag was also not with me. Oh shoot.


It was when all the lights turned on and I saw Four, Alistair, Kane, Tommy, Hazel, Jessie, Dale, Blossom, Mike, and Baron right in front of me screaming surprise. Then Break comes out from behind holding up a huge bouquet of tulips and a Teddy Bear.


"Happy Anniversary to us Babe. Advanced." He said and I tried so hard to keep the tears of joy in, I didn't want to look so emotional. I already knew that he would surprise me and all but I surely did not expect all the kidnapping stuff.


I didn't say anything but instead I just gave him a hug. A hug with a lot to say. I'm speechless. He did a we'll performed surprise while all I got him was pictures and an ugly bracelet I'm too embarrassed to give.


"You're seriously not gonna say anything?" Four curiously asked as I tried to compose myself.


"Wow," was the first word I could think of. "I don't know what to say." They all chuckled at me and my stupidity.


"You don't need to say anything else. Your reaction was all I needed." My ugly reaction. I hid behind him from embarrassment. Everyone just sat with us at the table and the lady behind the counter flipped the sign outside to open.


Strangers started coming in of the store. Break gave me a huge folder filled with so much effort into it. There were pictures and notes in it and in the last page there were a bunch of letters I'll get into later at home. He seemed so happy with the stuff I gave him and the others were just so happy to dig into the cupcakes. Lucky for them mom made a lot.


We stayed in the shop for a while and just started playing various games. Some of them started to get going. The first one to leave was Baron, then Blossom, then Mike and Dale, then Hazel and she just forced Jessie to come with her I ended up being with boys, five large boys. I was sinking from the picture and Four even asked once where was I, am I seriously that small?


"Rose, Break, if you two get married someday, can the four of us be the flower boys?" Alistair joked and Four seemed to love the joke.


"Yeah and we'll wear those ballerina skirt so it'll be unique." Four seemed to enjoy it so much. These two are going to marry each other someday, I just have a hunch.


"We will. In Four and Jade's wedding." Break said and they all started laughing while Four acted all shy all of a sudden. Who's Jade? I didn't know Four had a girlfriend.


"Is Jade Four's girlfriend?" I asked and all eyes were suddenly on me.


"Four Anderson and Jade Hempsburn? No. Four just likes her but sadly she doesn't want to get into a relationship yet. They just met  and suddenly the hunk of a Four Anderson falls for the very lovely Jade Hempsburn. His second crush won't be able to be his girlfriend, so sad." Alistair teases while Four just looks down in shame. I know Four, and I know that when he says he's in love, it's true. He doesn't think love must be all fun and games.


"Oh just wait until you hear Alistair's story." Break said and suddenly I became interested in their love affairs.


"Alistair is courting Monique Sanders. This former Captain of their cheerleading team, she's a hottie and a pageant girl. Monique likes Alistair but Alistair is just to wimp to ask her to be his girlfriend." Kane explains and Alistair just throws crumpled tissue papers at him.


"What about Kane?" I asked then Four volunteers to tell the story.


"Kane has a complicated relationship with Andrea at the moment. I caught them one time arguing over food and I know to myself that we should never agrue over food. I think their nine month relationship is not going to last long." I've already known for myself that it wasn't gonna last long because I saw how Andrea would not let Kane put his arm around her when they're together. She's a total bitch, she's not even that pretty.


"You guys better straighten things up with each other." He nods and we all diverted our attention to Tommy who was silently eating his slice of the cupcake. "What about you Tommy?" I asked.


"I've been friends with Tommy for so long but I have never known a single girl he dated." Kane said. Tommy was more of the silent type, he was the most silent one in their circle of friends and next to that is Break.


"Nobody bothered asking." Fair point and it seemed to kinda convince the others.


"Well, you gonna tell us now?" Four asked and he just sighed while we all waited for him to tell us when Four was just so eager to know. "Who are you courting?"


"I already have a girlfriend. Donna Osborne. I think you all know her because we've been classmates last year. We've been together for two years already." Jaws literally dropped. I did not know he had a girlfriend, it never really popped into my head.


"Oh fuck dude. Relationship goals. How on earth do you two stay together?" Four said and everyone came to a Stop. I think I know what they'll do. "What?"


"You cursed. Punish thee!" Alistair chants and then they all chant the word punish all together.


"It's my turn." Break announce. "And I'm sure you'll love it." Break did a very evil grin and I don't think it'll be fun.


"God, I hate it when you give punishments." Break accepted it like it was a compliment. He thought of it we'll and then whispered it onto Four's ear.


"No. That's unfair." He complaints but I have no idea What they're talking about. They were arguing with each other and no one else in the table could relate to what they are arguing about.


"Jeez, just for an hour." Break nods and the rest of us continued to watch. We were waiting for what Four will do. 


He stood up and took his shirt off. He went to other tables with girls and asked for a picture with them. I have to admit, Break did great and so did Four. The whole hour was spent just watching Four as he went from table to table and from girl to girl, it was funny and surprising at first then it turned boring and lame thirty minutes later Break decided to let Four back to his seat and shirt. We spent the rest of the hours talking and playing again, boring right? Tommy and Kane then decided to get going to Break's apartment because they said they were tired. I was left with three boys this time.


"What if we go somewhere other than here? This place is starting to get boring." Four complained and so we got our stuff with the help of the two and placed it into Break's car. We drove off to my place because I wanted to watch movies with them.


When I went in, I was lucky enough not to see Matt nor Alice in the house but I did see the babysitter and the twins in the living room. At first Lorry thought of something else but then I thought: what could I possibly do with three boys? Other than the bad things some greenminded person would think of.


We sat with the twins for a minute or so while she goes take a number two. The twins remembered Break but I don't think they've seen Four and Alistair before so I did a little introduction of the two.


"Rose, do they have second name's?" Four curiously asked while he kept shaking the toy car in Clifford's face.


"Yeah. Crawford Allen and Clifford Allan. Pretty messed up right?" I said as he tried to let all those information sink into him.


"How do you remember who's who?" Alistair asked while he was holding both Crawford's hands up into the air.

 
"I have wild guesses." I kid but he still believed in what I said. I don't know what Four and Alistair are doing to the twins but they sure are playing with them. When Lorry came back from you-know-where, we immediately got up and to my room.


"Your room is so girly." Four said giving my room a very good observation. It's like he's looking for something.


"Duh. What are you looking around for?" I asked then Alistair smacks him behind the head with a rolled up piece of paper I don't know where he got.


They all made their way up to my bed which was big but with the three of them on it, they made it look so small. I was loading up my hard drive filled with movies when Four decided to go get snacks. I don't actually allow food on my bed but since it's just this one time, I'll just let this slip.


I was already done setting things up but Four and Alistair was still outside getting snacks. I was left alone in the room with Break and he was sitting on my bed like he was modeling the bed.


"Come here. Don't worry babe, I'm all yours." He said and I just went on the bed time him. I sat on his lap as I tried to squish him but it was hard.


I have no idea why but I really wanted to squish him. He then hugged me so tight that I thought I was going to explode then he let go of me making me sit back up to his lap.


"Save all those stuff for this evening when Al and I are already gone." Four said rudely entering my room with bowls of chips and juice on trays.


"We weren't doing anything." Break said as-a-matter-of-factly. Then Four and Al placed the trays on my bedside table.


"Yeah right. I can see your boner." Four said but Break just smirked at him.


"Yeah right, says the guy who jerked off at the kitchen." I was holding in the laughter and so did Alistair because I have to admit, that's actually really funny.


"That was one time. Jeez move on." Four admits and sits in the bed with all of us. It's actually amazing that we fit the bed, I really thought that someone ws going to fall off the bed.


We watched different movies chosen by each one of us. We stayed up until it was eight. That was when Four and Alistair decided to get going.


"Dude, we're going to leave the two of you here. Better give me a boy okay?" Alistair kids and Break threw a pillow at him. They bid their farewells and left the room closing the door behind them.


I was left, again, in the room with Break. I have no idea what we'll do but I'm sure that one thing would be to clean up the mess here they eat like pigs. We didn't take long. It only took us twenty-five minutes to clean up and it wasn't even tiring.


Break has been with me for a year and I hope he'll be with me for a lifetime. A year with love. He sat beside me with our hands glued together.


"A year huh." I said as I sighed along with my breath.


"Yeah." He plainly said in agreement. A year is overwhelming because this is a first for me.
