Actions Speak Louder Than Words

Chapter 8

“Okay, Alyssa. Just relax...It's just the first day of school..First day to leave a mark on the school."

I was in the car, muttering to myself, as Harry drove me to school.

I wore my school uniform, which looked good on me, and my hair in a long ponytail, the ends curled.

“ We're here." Harry told me. I got out of the car and closed the door. I joined Harry and walked into the school.

“ Are you ready?" Harry asked.

No, Harry. I'm not ready at all. I'm really REALLY scared.

“ I guess so.." I said, holding onto his hand tight.

Yes, I am thirteen. Thirteen and 10 months. But this is school we're talking about here. NEW school. Not the old school with my best friends.

Harry and I came to the reception and was greeted by a young lady who looked about 30.

“ Hi, You must be Alyssa. I'm Mrs Greene, the head here at Ashbeck." She smiled at me. I smiled back at her and Harry turned to me.

“ I better go. See ya later, Lyssi." He told me, hugging me then turning to leave. I waved as he left and walked to my class with Mrs Greene.

We arrived at my first class for the day and everyone stood up as we both entered the room.

“ You may be seated, children." Mrs Greene said.

“ Now, today we have a new student joining us. Class, this is Alyssa. Alyssa, this is your form." She introduced before leaving the room.

“ Hello Alyssa. I'm Mrs. Hallows. Take a seat next to Annabeth over there. Annabeth, raise your hand so Alyssa knows who you are." The teacher sitting at her desk said.

A girl with long, brown hair and slightly tanned skin raised her hand, smiling at me warmly. I shuffled along to her and sat down.

The bell finally rang at the end of class. Now, my favorite part of day. Lunch!

“ Hey Alyssa? Do you wanna come to lunch with me? You can meet my friends too!" Annabeth asked me, a warm smile on her face.

“ Ermm..Okay. " I replied, walking with her to the lunch hall.

The huge hall was filled with teenagers, big and small. Annabeth lead me to a table where 2 girls and 4 guys sitting round it.

“ Hey Anna!" One of them said.

“ Hi. Guys, this is Alyssa. Alyssa, this is Izzy, Chloe, Sam, Joe, Callum and Reagan." Annabeth introduced, her friends waving at me.

Izzy had brown, straight hair tied up in a braid and blue eyes. Chloe had blonde-ish curly hair and lovely sea green eyes.

“ Hey there." I smiled, waving shyly. They all greeted me and I sat down next to Chloe.

We began to talk and talk about many things. From Siblings to Favorite music. I found my first group of friends and I know we're gonna be friends for a long while.
