Wind gently rustled the heather stalks bordering the SwiftClan camp. A hazel she-cat slipped into the camp closely followed by a golden tom.

"Briarstalk, I have sometime important to tell you," the hazel she-cat meowed to the tom. She looked into his copper eyes as they settled down beside the rippling pond. "I've always wanted a to have a family ever since I got over the little kit dream of becoming leader." The golden tom purred and they both gazed at each other lovingly. Another cool gust of wind blew as the tom began to speak.

"So have I ever since I laid my eyes on you." He purred once again as the she-cat rolled her round amber eyes at the cliche line. "Let's go and lay down besides the willow tree while you tell me about your 'important thing', Hazelsong." Briarstalk smiled at his mate happily while they padded together over to the Great Willow that stood in the camp.

"Now I hope that you'll be happy with what is going to happen." Hazelsong looked down at her paws with a shy smile. She let out a long, cool breath before continuing. "We're going to have kits." She looked up and smiled to see Briarstalk in shock. "I-I hope your ready to be a father."

Briarstalk stood there for a second staring at the ground clearly in deep thought. His long golden fur just rustled in the leaf-bare breeze. The large tom looked up a few moments later and smiled with his copper eyes glowing. Hazelsong sighed in relief and nuzzled her mate happily. Briarstalk nuzzled her back lovingly. "I'm glad that we're having kits. It's about time to start a family. I'm glad our dream is finally coming true."

Hazelsong lifted her gaze away from the golden tom to see a white cat with a brown muzzle padded towards them with a distraught look on his face. She was puzzled by his expression and got to her paws to greet him.

"Hello Cloudpool." Hazelsong dipped her head in greeting. "Is everything ok?"

Cloudpool sighed and was looking at her belly full of kits. He seemed to be snapped back to reality by the sound of Hazelsong's voice and shook his head. "No I'm just thinking about the kits. They're going to be born in the middle of leaf-bare."

Hazelsong sighed as well. Her ears flattened and tail dropped. To think about the chance of her kits not surviving ruined her mood. She rested her light brown head on Briarstalk's shoulder while he wrapped his tail around her.

"Well all we can do is hope for the best, right?" She mewed distraughtly.

Cloudpool just returned her question with a distant gaze from his green and blue eyes.
