This is it. This is the day where everything changes. No more teasing, no more bullying, and best of all, no more Vocal Adrenaline. If Neva didn't know any better, she'd think her whole life would be easier now. She got away from that tyrant, Jesse, and that hell-bound dance camp. But life was not that easy. Neva knew there was so much that was coming for her. She just didn't know what. She tugged at her sweater and tried to blend in in the sea of teenagers. The halls of McKinley High was a lot smaller than her last school, but it was still crowded.
So crowded she didn't see the boy that she knocked down.
"Oh my God!" Neva exclaims as she watched him fall over. He just smiled and shook his head. "Hey, don't worry about it I'm fine." Neva tried to ignore how his smile made her stomach flutter. She extended her hand to help him up. "I really wasn't paying attention I am so sorry." She apologized. He smiled at her again. There it was. The smile that made Neva's face warmed and her stomach clenched.
"It's ok. No harm no fool." He answers. Neva tried to stop herself for giggling, but she failed epically. He looked at her, confused. "What's so funny?" Neva smiled at him and tried to stop laughing. "The saying is, no harm no foul, not fool." The boy's face instantly turned red. He scratched the back of his neck and gave Neva and sheepishly smile. "Well that's not embarrassing at all."
She shook her head, trying to stop herself from laughing to much. "It's fine." Neva held up the book that he handed her. "Thanks for helping me." The boy smiled, Neva couldn't help but notice the glimpse of his crystal blue eyes. "No problem. I'm Sam by the way." Neva smiled, so he has a name. "I'm Neva."
"Neva? That's a beautiful name." Neva giggled, is he really flirting with her? Oh god she hopes so. Before she can comment of his flirting, the bell rang, ending their time with each other.
Sam sighed, he seemed disappointed that his time with Neva was cut short, but if was late to Mr.Shue's class again he'll never hear the end of it from Rachel. Trust me, Sam did not want that. At all. Ever.
"I got to go to class. But I hope I can see you again." Neva nodded, "It's not a big school, I'm sure you'll bump into me again." Sam winked.
"I hope so. See you around."
She watched as he walked away and couldn't help but feel something flutter in her chest. Maybe this school isn't so bad after all, Neva thought herself as she walked to her next class.
And that wasn't the last time Sam and Neva bumped into each other, they would stopped and talk in the library, in the lunch room, and even at each other locker. Neva would like to say Sam was her first ( and only friend) and McKinley High.
One day, Sam and Neva was studying in her room, they weren't talking, or messing around, or even doing their regular scheduled flirting, they were just sitting, focusing only on their English essay. Sam tapping away with his pencil, and Neva, blocking out the world with music that isn't that popular. So when she started unconsciously humming, I Would Do Anything for You, Sam felt a smile sneak onto his face. He wasn't expecting her to listen to that song, Foster the People aren't that popular right now, so the fact that she's singing it, Ms.Pop Queen in the Year, surprised him greatly.
It might be amusing to know she's even listening to that song, but it was even more amusing to see her fully jam out to the tune. Her head was bobbing to the beat, she sang each word perfectly, she didn't miss a single note. Sam was shocked to the core when he heard her sing. He tried calling out to her, but Neva was to into the song, way into her head to notice anything around her. Sam let her jam out, hiding the smile he had earlier, he knew something about her was special.
He couldn't help but laugh at how cute she looked when she bite her lip when she pondered on her homework. Or the way she let the blanket eat he, because heaven forbid she ever get cold. He always wondered why she dressed so warm all the time. He figured it was because she's always cold. Neva seemed to get shiver every time she gets hit with even the tiniest breeze.
