Boom! I turn my head towards the sound near the front of the super
mart. "What the..." but before I could even finish my sentence a second explosion went off... a much larger explosion. It sent a shockwave knocking things off shelves and causing some lightsbulbs to blow and others to flicker. A older middle aged man dropped the new gaming system that I overheard him saying he was going to buy for his 10 year old son. He bent down and said to me "What the hell is going on?"
"I don't know" I said as I started to run out of the electronic section "but the one thing that I do know is that I have to find my mom". People screaming, running and debris littering the aisles. What the hell is going on!? Damn I knew we should have left the store already. What did my mom say earlier? Oh yeah she said and I quote " We will only be here for a "few" minutes." As I run around the supermart I yell out a few good times "Mom!Mom!" God please let her be ok. I stop to the sound of foot steps.I crouched low and took a peek around the corner. I see some men dressed in military like gear with the word "R.A.I.D" on the upper arm near their shoulders.I leaned over to listen to the conversation of some of the men. "Grab the Gamma charged eletro-distributor and the Molecular-compacter we need to test out the new weapons before we sell them to HYDRA" said the man nearest me. "Yes commander" said the soilder. HYDRA? My God these guys are terrorist!Where are the Avengers, The X-Men, or the Fantastic Four! This is a lot more serious than I thought I need to go find my mom now . As I start to back away slowly I accidentally kick a can of corn making noise as it rolled away. I begin to curse myself for being so careless. Apparently that little bit of noise was enough to grab their attention."Quickly give me that weapon" said the commander as he snatched the weapon out of the soldier's hands. From around the corner I could see the weapon started to glow green and suddenly what appeared to be a streak of green lightning shot right above my head exploding a bottle of ketchup sending ketchup everywhere leaving the shelve scorched."Good shot commander" said the soldier. Suddenly a man from behind them comes out of hiding and started screaming hysterically " Oh God don't let me be next! Don't make me be next!" The soldier then fires his weapon sending a purple beam that surrounded the man in some kind of force field as he screamed in agony. Suddenly my heart sank as I realized it was the same man that I saw in the electronics section. Suddenly the bubble start to shrink. It started to twist and contort his body until the bubble completely collapsed and his body vanished. Without thinking I quickly grabbed the can I accidentally kicked and threw it several aisles down knocking over what sounded like some kind of display. Then without saying anything the commander and the soldier headed over in that direction. With my back against the shelf I started to think and take a breather. I feel so weak and helpless but I need to find my mom. She's got to be okay I can't lose someone else this year. I just lost my older brother a few months ago. I think everybody has been to a funeral before. We all been to funerals for Great Uncle Fred ( who we never knew about) or a fourth cousin Joann ( we never met) but this was my brother. Not just some random character in the story of my life. I remember the moment I knew that I was never going to see him again. My dad was out at work ( working late as usual) me my brother and my mom are at home asleep. There was knocking at the door at 5 a.m. I opened the door to flashing police lights and an officer at the door. My mom soon came to the door and asked what's the matter. They told us that they were sorry to inform us but your son was found dead yesterday on Friday. I later found out he was dead because he was doing something that he probably shouldn't have been doing. Suddenly I snap out of my thinking to the sound of gunfire." There's no way the police could handle this on their own so what's going on?" I began to think to myself. But I don't got time for this. The last place I remember my mom saying she was going to be at was near the Furniture and other house accessories section. That's about a few sections away she's has to be there....she just has to be. I stand on my own two feet and slowly and cautiously make my way over to that direction. I start to run a lot quick than I thought my legs would carry me.My body is running on adrenaline and fear." Mom! Mom!" I call out."Matthew!" I hear her cry out. I quickly run to the next section and I see her on the floor with a couch on her legs.
"Mom!" I said as I knelt beside her. I looked at my mom and it was so strange to see the woman that I always thought was so strong look so weak and small.
"Matthew. My leg... my left leg really hurts."
As she spoke I noticed that she must have bit down on her tongue because it was bleeding and bruised." Don't worry Mom I'm going to get you out of here. As I start to lift the couch I freeze in fear as I hear footsteps running in our direction. Suddenly men and women dressed in blue and white uniforms come to our spot. The fear on my heart was lifted when I recognize the eagle emblem on their uniforms. They are S.H.I.E.LD! The man leading them knelt down beside me and with a comforting pat on the back said "Don't worry we are the Good guys." "Let's get this young man some help agents!" he shouted. I backed up to give them some room."You four to me. On three...1...2...3!" The five agents managed to lift up the couch and move it out the way. While a few agents stayed on watch and looked ready for anything the others tended to my mom and put her on a dark blue strecher.A agent came over to me and said "I know it looks scary but this is just for precaution.." I nodded my head. "...but you shouldn't stay here. Why don't you come with us and your mom." I got up and followed as they start to haul her away to safety and at that moment I knew what I wanted to do...
