Adeline admits, Hogwarts is probably the coolest school in existence. When she was homeschooled, the subjects she learned were math, language, science and history. But here, she is taught how to make potions, how to transform things, how to defend herself against dark magic and many other things. She and Remus had become good friends, even her and Samantha had become friends. She finds herself slowly developing a dislike for Sirius Black and James Potter, but she is nice to them because they're friends with Remus.
Adeline finds herself sitting in the library finishing an assignment for Potions when she hears the chair beside her move. She glances up from the table to see Remus sitting down getting out his own work.
"Hello there. What're you working on?" Adeline asks politely, pointing to his parchment.
R
"Potions. You?" He says."Me as well, do you want to work together?"
"Sure." He smiles. "Why not?"
Later at dinner, Adeline and Remus watch as Sirius and James try and eat everything on their plates faster than the other. Adeline's lips are curled down into a disgusted frown before pushing away her empty plate.
"I don't think I very hungry anymore." She says before getting off the bench and dismissing herself. She leaves the hall and goes upstairs to Gryffindor Tower.
"Godric." She says to the lady in the portrait, who nods and let's the painting swing open. Adeline steps inside the portrait hole and heads up to her dorm and is greeted by her kitten rolling around on her bed. The kitten's small head snaps towards the girl and suddenly the cat jumps off the bed. It pads towards her and brushes against Adeline's ankle. Adeline walks over to her chest and grabs a large book that her mother had sent her one year from Canada, before leaving the dormitory. She picks up her cat in her arms and walks back down to the empty common room. She curls up in a chair beside the fireplace and reads while her kitten sleeps on the armrest.
She flips open to a marked page and continues to read one of the many fairy tales in the book. She reads peacefully for a solid half hour before the portrait hole opens and people begin walking in. She spots Remus walk towards her with a plate of food in his hand. He sits on the couch beside her and hands her the food.
"I missed you at dinner. I really wish I had left as well, but you're smarter than I am." He tells her as she begins eating.
"Thanks for the food, Remus. Are you allowed to do that?" She asks worriedly.
"Yeah, I told Professor McGonagall what happened and she told me to do this. She also said that she would talk to the boys, which I'm pretty sure she is doing currently." He says, reassuring her. She nods and continues eating and reading.
Remus heads upstairs along with many of the other students, leaving her mainly alone. She flips the page when she hears the portrait open again. Professor McGonagall, James and Sirius walk inside now. Professor McGonagall has a stern look on her face as they all walk over to Adeline. She shuts her book and turns around to face the boys.
"Adeline, we're sorry for being so disgusting that you left." The boys say together before leaving. Adeline raises an eyebrow as her eyes follow them out, before the professor clears her throat.
"Miss Warner, I understand why you decided to leave, but you are required to eat something. If something like this happens again, I suggest you move to another place at the table or bring food up here with you." The professor tells her before leaving. Adeline finishes her food and returns her plate to the kitchen before heading to bed.
Adeline sits up in bed the next morning before grabbing her robe and heading into the bathroom. Her slippers pad across the cold stone floor as she gets ready. After a quick shower, she dries her hair with a towel and ties it back. She gets dressed and heads downstairs to the great hall. She sits down at the empty table and grabs an apple and a scone. She eats her breakfast before heading back upstairs. She enters the dorm again to see one of the girls slowly waking up. She renters the bathroom and brushes her teeth. When she spits the access toothpaste into the sink, she sees pink blood in the basin. She washes it out of the sink as she tastes the salty taste of blood in her mouth.
