Update: HARRY IS SO ADORABLE I CRY EVERY TIME.

Okay. That is all!

There was some sort of clarity after hearing from Mary and Will. To know that from the instant the collision happened, his boy had people looking out for him. He even went inside the post office to thank the workers that were there and helped out too. Hearing the story didn't make him feel any better, but at least he knows what happened.

It eventually starts to rain, a strong downpour all across London so he's quick to flag down a cab. He's been gone long enough from Harry that he ought to return to him. He should be done with his therapy, and the lads will probably come visit soon after classes. The hospital is not a far drive, but traffic has piled up from the weather. The sky is covered in dark angry clouds that every so often emits lightening. Things probably would be different if that day Harry went to the post office was raining instead of snowing. Maybe none of this would even happen.

At least the person who hit him has repercussions. That he's not walking away free from this. Anne is making sure of that. The rain pelts against the window, and Louis takes the careful time to count each and every last droplet until the cab is pulling up the front of the hospital. It's like an instant relief washes over him. Returning to the place that he knows Harry is at. It's always hard to leave him, never knowing what is going on with him unless he's right there next to his body. He thanks the driver and gets out, rushing inside the hospital and immediately heading towards the waiting room.

It's quite the surprise when he sees all the guys standing there, huddled together and hushed whispering about something. "What's going on?" Louis questions right away, walking over towards them. Niall is the first to look over, his eyes wide with a hint of something that he cannot quite decipher.

Of course, the worst comes to mind. Louis panics, and tears start to gloss over his eyes. His heart sinks into his chest, and he steps froward, grabbing Niall's hand. But the boy starts shaking his head, as if to answer the unasked question that is lingering in the air. To deny whatever terrible thing Louis has conjured up in his head. It doesn't make sense.

"It's Harry," Zayn is the one to say, pressing a hand to his back in what is supposed to be a comforting way. But it doesn't help. This silence and careful looks is not making him feel better.

The first tear falls down his cheek, and he abruptly turns to face his friend, gasping for air. This must be it. The terrible news. The ball dropping. But Niall squeezes his hand, draws him back in and smiles.

"He asked for you," he whispers softly.

The comment alone makes Louis' eyes widen, his heart jumping in his chest. "He ... what?" he questions, unsure if he heard right. Upon looking at all the lads faces, he finally registers that no one looks sad. Yes, there are tears, but they're happy tears. Followed by bright smiles and just a look of freshness, as if a weight had been lifted off their shoulders. Somehow, it's still not clicking what Niall just said to him.

"Lou, he opened his eyes," Zayn follows up with, voice so soft and gentle, filled with pure happiness and relief.

However, instead of feeling the weight lifted, Louis feels pure guilt. And resent. And hatred for himself because he wasn't there. He left, and Harry had to wake up all alone. Instantly, Louis starts to cry, lets the tears run freely out his eyes as he goes up to cover his face. His legs wobble weakly, and everything about him simply collapse into emotions because how terrible is he to not be there for his fiancé.

"Louis, it's okay," Zayn reassures, getting an arm around his body and pulling him into a hug, a tight one. Essentially holding him up once again. Much like he did the night Harry's heart stopped.
