5. Louis

December 5th

Louis' infatuation with Harry only becomes stronger as he continues to read the letters. There are points in the day where he just contemplates reading all of them. He's read up to the 5th and there is honestly nothing stopping him from getting on a plane to New York right now.

Instead, Louis opts to text Harry, which, he doesn't know why he didn't think of it any earlier. Maybe Harry wasn't expecting Louis to get in too deep so fast. Maybe Harry wasn't expecting Louis to like him at all. Maybe these letters were just a 'friend' thing right?

Louis becomes a little pissed and then just says 'fuck it' and opens his messaging app. If he's going to do this, then he's going to do it right. And so what if Harry doesn't like him back? What's the worse that could happen? He'll probably smoke a joint and forget it all ever happened. And he'll keep doing that every day until he forgets he likes Harry because honestly, Louis doesn't think it takes just one day to get over Harry Styles. God, he can't imagine how Nick felt when Harry left him. Then again, Louis will never even think of cheating on someone like Harry. Then again, that's probably what Nick thought too.

To Hazza 💖: been reading your letters..

Louis has no other option than to sit in his usual spot on his bed and wait there, like a potato for Harry to answer him. But Harry's probably busy right now, maybe just working on music for the band. Louis knows how much inspiration he himself is getting from these damned letters. He can write a whole album just from the ones he's read.

Louis stares at the heart he added next to Harry's contact name, his heart thumps a little more rapidly. His smile grows wider at the image. This was his secret, his heart emoji. One that not even Harry knows about.

The text comes too quick. For Louis it actually doesn't because he's been staring dead at his phone for the past 2 minutes in hopes that it pops up with a message from Harry.

From Hazza 💖: oh yeah?

Louis' stomach did this nervous little, joyous flip. Maybe it was the fact that Harry sounds so smug or just the fact that Harry answered at all in particular. He reads the message over and over again until another one pops up, causing Louis' eyes to brighten.

From Hazza 💖: what do you think?

There are a lot of ways that Louis could answer this. Maybe with 'I think it's the stupidest thing ever and I hate you' and just forget about liking Harry altogether. Or he could just tell Harry how he actually feels and let him know how much he'd do to see Harry right now. But that'd make him look all too weak. Still, Harry of all people knows how sensitive Louis is and he wouldn't have him any other way. That's why Louis sent this.

To Hazza 💖: I don't know what I should think. How do you feel I should think?

Okay. And maybe Louis is flirting a bit at the end. Giving Harry the green light to speak his mind. Because from the looks of letter 5, Harry has something going on for Louis. Louis just won't be the first to admit it. After all, he wasn't the one who sent a pack of letters to his crush. Harry was.

Harry was probably paying as much attention to his phone as Louis is. That's why Louis is surprised when Harry answers him quickly.

From Hazza 💖: I think you should be a little happy. Maybe a little too happy? Which is perfectly fine. I'm just trying to figure out if I'm doing this right.

Louis can practically hear Harry's exhale from the moment he finishes typing the message. His smile grows lighter. And maybe this is it. Maybe Louis should just flat out tell him that he likes him and that he's going to buy a plane ticket right now, and maybe take his little family in California to Harry's home so they could establish their newfound love for each other. Maybe it's going to extreme measures but that's okay because Louis trusts Harry. That's his best friend. And he will give up almost anything for him in a heartbeat. Louis just didn't believe in people going from best friends to lovers. So for this to hit him right now made him realize that he likes Harry and maybe Harry likes him too and that maybe they are meant for each other.

To Hazza 💖: you wanna know what I think?

Okay so Louis is doing this. He is going to say something completely out of the blue and he is going to do it because he has balls. He is brave enough. If Harry can send him packs of letters filled to the brim with his attraction towards Louis, then Louis can sure as hell send this message. Harry has already put everything on the line and it is only fair that Louis puts at least a pinch of stuff on the line too.

But Louis can't do it. He can't fathom to think what it would be like if Harry doesn't mean any of this to go the way it's going. What if they get together and are extremely happy the first couple of months and then Harry gets bored. Or if he himself gets bored. But he doesn't even worry about the latter because he knows there's not a single aspect of Harry that is boring. That word doesn't even fit into Harry's vocabulary. And that's something all the boys can agree on. Something even his own mother could agree with.

But Louis. Louis won't handle Harry getting bored of him very well. Louis will break down. He knows it very well because he acts like a complete brat when Harry doesn't give him any attention, something he always wants.

So he sends the stupid message anyways. Not caring that Harry hasn't answered.

To Hazza 💖: I think it wasn't so bad to want everyone to find out about Wellington 💖

Maybe the heart emoji wasn't Louis' own little secret anymore.
