I don't own these characters, except Alina. They belong to Rick Riordan. This book will have much more improved writing styles. Hope you enjoy. Comments and votes encourages me to keep going and update faster.
I was sitting in the middle of a dark cave, out there in the open, vulnerable. My body was glistening with sweat. There was warm liquid traveling down my neck and onto my shoulder. I scanned the area using the light provided by the moon. It seemed vaguely familiar. There where drawings of a Greek man etched on the walls. He had the many faces of a dragon and the skin of a reptile. On the back of his snake-like body were two thin wings of a bat. There was a cruel smile spread on his face; his eyes bore into mine. The gruesome picture brought one name to mind: Typhon. I turned away as my fear rose then quickly searched the cave for other clues. There where eagle feathers lying everywhere. I didn't dare to pick one up. Being a demigod you learn that everything is deadly including seemingly harmless things like a feather.
A noise behind me broke my train of thought. I turned swiftly and saw the tail of a snake that was poking out of what seemed like another entrance. Before I hand time to analyze if it was a poisonous reptile, the creature slithered away in one quick motion. I backed away from it slowly while trying to connect the dots. I was in a cave with feathers, a snake, and a sketch of Typhon. My eyes widened. The answer dawned on me. It was like solving a riddle. "Sphinx," I whispered into the night. My throat felt dry.
"If my thoughts were correct, then the snake I saw at the entrance wasn't really a snake, it was the tail of that Greek monster."
"How right you are," A voice hissed from behind me. It was a female voice that held a sweet tune. I quickly turned towards her. Sphinx was not at all what I imagined her as. She had the body of a lion that attached to a scaly tail and oversize wings of a eagle. The part that shocked me most was her head. It was a beautifully carved human face with sharp features and thick blonde hair framed around it .
"If I hadn't known better I would say that you are a daughter of Athena, but I'm afraid my wise child is too late." She turned her head towards the reflection of the moon and her grin deepened. "I gave you twenty four hours to solve my riddle: What has a head and a tail, but no body-but unfortunately time is up my sweet."
I stood there confused as she advanced towards me. Her sharp teeth shining through the night. She stop midway and crouched in a low position then-she pounced.
I woke up with a start and squinted against the sunlight. My heart was pounding a thousand beats per minute.
"She waking up," a deep voice said to the right of me. I quickly turned to the direction of the voice and tried to focus my eyes on him. I saw a dark haired man with warm brown eyes and a bright smile. Next to him there was a beautiful lady with wavy brown hair and deep brown eyes. She appeared to be his wife.
I looked more to my left and saw what seemed to be the lady's child. He had sea-green eyes and pitch black hair. I narrowed my eyes. I knew I had seen him somewhere. The guys name was stuck stubbornly in the back of my mind, refusing to reveal itself. I felt a migraine come out. I couldn't think. The only word I was able to comprehend was-a coin.
"A coin" I whispered. They gave me a confused look. "The answer to the riddle was a coin."
The lady looked at me in a worried manner then turned to her husband. "What is she talking about Paul?" Paul, I repeated his name in my head over and over. It also sounded familiar.
Paul rubbed his wife's shoulder and replied, " She probably just disoriented from the medicine. It'll wear off with time." He turned his head back to me. "Hello Alina. My name's Paul Blofis. I'm you dad, and this is Sally, your new mom."
"And I'm Percy, your brother," said the boy to my left with a cheeky smile. "Percy," I muttered. "Percy Jackson." At that moment, everything came back to me. Percy Jackson, the son of Poseidon, one of the heroes of Olympus, and_ my half brother
