Three Weeks Later...

November - Red Gulf Pack

Saskatchewan Airport in Canada

*Marcus POV*

The plane was scheduled to land in thirty minutes. Dad and I agreed that it would be important for me to learn pack politics for when I became Alpha. I had been studying discipline, combat and strategy with the Defense Team on the weekends for three months. Surprising the both of us when my punishment was over and I didn't want to leave. I ended up unofficially training with them for another three years.

During the flight I caught up on the basic information we had on the other packs. When it came to the Canadian area it was divided into two parts. The Provinces run by the Golden Moon Pack and the Territories labeled as free land. Northwest, Yukon and Nunavut of Canada was free land for rogues who didn't want to join a pack. Most lupines were there by choice but there were a few who had been banned from packs. I researched each pack myself and was pretty proud of the work I did.

"Alpha Jacques has arranged for us to stay at his wilderness resort, we have two cabins." Dad said to me as we exited the plane heading towards baggage claim. "Once we've grabbed our bags we'll pick up our rental cars, I reserved three SUV's."

The airport was packed with humans because of the Thanksgiving holiday. The Alphas decided on this weekend so the human police and airport security wouldn't notice the travel increase to one area. All the Alphas brought a dozen guards including their Delta. The rest of security during the conference would be handled by Alpha Jacques. On the drive to the wilderness resort I opened my window taking in huge gulps of air. My senses were going bananas, everything here was so fresh and wild. We had arranged an area near our cabins to take a run and I couldn't wait to get my paws into the snow.

"After everyone gets settled in we'll go for a run. After that long flight I need to stretch my legs." Dad said as everyone nodded in agreement.

"Has anyone ever run in snow before?" I asked. My eyes were the size of saucers as I took in the scenery.

"I have and let me tell you, there's nothing like it." Delta Patrick said from the front seat. "Before we shift I will let everyone know the do's and don'ts of running in the snow."

The wilderness resort was not how it sounded, it was more wilderness than resort. There was a security gate and a welcome center, we were sighed in as guest of the owner but gave our human names to check in. After driving for ten miles our cabin came into view. The cabins I was expecting didn't look nothing like where I thought we were staying.

On the outside you saw a regular two story log cabin. On the inside there was a living room dining room combo. The living room had a flat screen TV across from the sofa, to the right of the sofa was a love seat and across from the love seat was a fireplace. Separating them was a round coffee table and a recliner in the corner. The dining room area had a hand carved eight seat table and chair set. Near the kitchen was a bathroom and spare bedroom with two twin beds divided by an end table. The second floor had three bedrooms and another bathroom. A queen size bed in two rooms and two full size beds in the third. When I checked out the bathrooms I was surprised to see a double sink with a walk in shower, Jacuzzi tub and a john. After the Defense Team did a security check of both cabins, we gathered in the dining room for room assignments.

"Cabin One, Alpha, you will take one of the queen size beds on the second floor. Prince you will take the other. Sydney and Mike take the two full beds, Ethan you get the pull out couch and Juan and I will take the twins." Patrick stated to everyone.

"I don't need a queen size bed when everyone is larger than I am. I can take one of the twins." I said to him. No need in being greedy.

"OK, Juan you take a full with Mike. Sydney you get the queen. Alpha you take the queen in the middle room." Patrick said reorganizing the assignments. "For cabin two Dallas is in command; Evan, Jack, Brian, Jose, and Chris, your with him. Evan gets the pull out couch." He paused for a moment. "Is everyone clear? Meet Alpha and me in the back in 20." He said turning his back headed for the back door not waiting for an answer.

After spending three years under Patrick's wing I knew why the room assignments were made. I even understood the order of the assignments. Of course the Alpha got his own room and normally I would too. Since I gave up the queen, dad was moved to a secured room location. Patrick always kept his newest member, Juan, with an experienced partner. Mike and Sydney were at the same level like the twins. Ethan and Evan got the couch because if there was an intruder you would get the same face first, no matter which cabin you entered. Dallas was Patrick's right hand that's why he was in charge of cabin two. Dallas thought like Patrick so the rooms would be laid out almost the same.

With 20 minutes of alone time I went to my room to check my messages. Closing the door I turned my phone on, I had a voicemail from my mom and a picture message from Becky. Mom just wanted to say hi and said that dad forgot his cell phone charger again. Becky sent me a sexy picture of herself in what looked like new lingerie.

After Becky said 'I love you' to me in her sleep three years ago everything was still fine...until she graduated. Hanging out with her college friends she started to say she loved me in her first year. At this point I loved her too but I couldn't let her think there was a chance that we would get married. At first she understood why I took so long to say it. I mean who's still together with their high school boyfriend after graduation. After I told her, I loved her too, we were good again...for six months. Then she started to complain that she hadn't met my parents. I knew I had to break it off with her before I graduated in June. I just knew it was gonna go really really bad. Honestly, I didn't think we would've lasted this long.

"Hey Marcel, how was your flight?" She asked. Becky didn't feel it was mature to keep calling me hotness. Hell, I thought I was still hot.

"Yeah babe, the flight was fine. I just wanted to call so you didn't think the worse." I said thinking of an excuse to end the call. She was super paranoid for the last eighteen months. Becky acted like the sky was falling or disaster was around every corner. Most of the time she was cool but every now and again she would freak me out.

"I'm glad. Never can be too careful with thunderstorms, tornados and terrorism." She listed. These was her favorite the 3T's, if I was further south she'd add a flood too.

"Well babe, just called in to say hi. We have a lot of work to do and they're waiting for me to get started." I said rubbing my eyes. I did not want to get into that conversation right now.

"OK, talk to you later. I love you Marcel." She said blowing me a phone kiss.

"Sure babe, later. I love you, too." I said hanging up. This was getting harder and harder to deal with.

I was just two years away from finding out who my fated mate was. I didn't get any special feelings from the lupines I came across in the last two years so I knew deep down I hadn't meet her yet. There was a rumor that if you saw your fated mate you'd get a tingling sensation and feel possessiveness. Of course no one said where, why or what else happened. At the rate I was going I would need Elder Thomas and dad to tell me or I'd never fine her. Right then and there I came to a realization, I had to break it off with Becky when I returned home. It wasn't fair to her that I wasn't truly in love with her, it wasn't too late for her to find someone else. My mission from now on was to complete my Defense training, to become Alpha and to find my mate.
