Chapter 1:
I sighed, looking out the car window at the beginning of my new life. In other words, my new school. I felt a hand grasp mine and I turned my head to see my mother smiling sympathetically at me.
"Come on! Its the beginning of a new start, I thought you would be just a little bit happier" she spoke softly. I looked away and ignored her. "You aren't going to be making any new friends at this rate if you keep scowling like that" she laughed lightly.
"Like that's an issue of mine" I sarcastically retorted. She frowned when I turned to look back at her.
"Ian you can't go through your senior year moping around because of a decision you had no control over" she tried to reason with me.
"Whatever I don't wanna talk about it" I mumbled as I ripped my hand out of her grasp and pulled my bags strap higher up my shoulder.
"Ian-"her voice was cut off by me slamming the door shut after getting out. I hurriedly walked towards the school building, ignoring all the stares sent my way by the people lingering around the parking lot. My mum did tell me this was a small town, that they rarely every had any new students transferring here so I wasn't surprised at all this attention I was receiving. Of course this only made me even more reluctant to move here, but it wasn't like we had much of a choice anyway.
I entered the building and tried to recall where my mum said the administrators office was but after a few minutes of staring at the peeling paint on the wall in concentration, I remembered that I wasn't paying attention to her.
I ran a hand down my face in frustration as I realized that my little 'stunt' of rebellion, only got me royally screwed over at the end. Asking anyone for instructions was a clear no-no, as they would think of it as an attempt made by me to to make some friends. That's the last thing I want right now. Or at all actually.
I'm laying low this year. I can't deal with the drama that comes with being friends with people. I'm gonna get through my senior year with my head down and one main objective in mind; pass my exams with flying colors. God knows the only way I'm gonna get into a good college is with a scholarship, especially now.
So with that in mind I decided my best bet was to walk around the school in hopes that I would stumble across the office myself. The halls were already starting to empty as classes were about to begin so with a huff, I hoisted the strap of my book-bag higher up my shoulder and began aimlessly walking the school halls.
~*~*~*~
I was officially lost.
10 minutes had gone by since classes started and the halls were deadly quiet and desolate. My feet were exhausted and I'm pretty sure I had passed that same green trash can with a little dent on the right side a few times already. I leaned against the blue and yellow colored lockers, gave out a large sigh and closed my eyes. Weren't there any staff members walking around the halls? Hall monitors? Janitors?
As I was beginning to lose all hope, I heard the slight creaking of a door to my left. My eyes snapped open and I saw a girl holding open the girls bathroom door. Before I could even think of what the hell I was doing, I found myself walking towards her while calling out to her.
"Hey! Could you help me out a little? I cant find the-" I was cut off by her abruptly shutting the door in my face. I stood there for a few minutes in shock, my mouth gaping open. The door opened slightly to reveal the girls dark hair but that was pretty much it.
"J-just give me a minute" her voice sent shivers down my spine. There was something about it, something I couldn't quite pinpoint. All I knew is that I've never heard anything like it, nor do I think i want to.
