Chapter 3:

After the bell rung, signalling lunch was over, I got up quickly and immediately headed towards the exit without looking back at the trio.

"Hey wait up, Ian!" I heard Raven yell behind me, confused. I ignored her and pushed through the students and successfully made it to the hallway.

I suddenly felt a harsh tug on my shoulder just as I stepped out the Lunch room, forcing me to turn around and face the person. It was Raven with her arms crossed around her chest.

"Don't think you can outrun me, these long legs have purpose" she said sternly "Now why were you running like hell hounds were chasing you?"

"look" I said hurriedly "Thanks for the seat and all but that doesn't make us friends all right? So I would appreciate it if you left me alone" I turned around to walk away once again.

"Oh hell no" I felt another tug on my shoulder that forced me to turn around again and face an angry looking Raven

"Ian, I thought I told you this before" She raised an eyebrow "You don't really have a choice"

I rolled my eyes and turned to walk away to my next class when I sensed raven walking alongside me

"So what class have you got next?" She asked nonchalantly

I sighed, knowing she wasn't gonna leave anytime soon so I answered her.

"Art" I replied laconically

"Ah I've got Physics now actually"

"I don't really recall asking"

"I don't really recall you asking for a broken nose either but if you keep mouthing off, you'll get one"

She turned to smile sarcastically at me while I snorted.

She stopped just where the hallway splits into two corridors "Okay well my class is that way so I'll see you later" She waved and smiled then turned on her heel and walked away. I think I could make an exception to my rule for her.

I sighed, realizing that it hasn't even been a day and I'm already going back on my word. I turned the other way as well and made my way to class.

When I reached the class, I realized I was quite early and only a few students were here. I headed to the back of the class as usual and plopped down on my seat. I looked around the classroom and saw many paintings and drawings. Although, there was one that really caught my attention.

I looked around and saw the teacher still hasn't come in so I got out of my seat and walked towards the painting.

It was a girl, she was drowning. There were chains attached to her hands, dragging her down further. her mouth was open in a silent scream but her eyes... They were as empty as a black hole. As though she was only screaming because she was expected to. The details were drawn so accurately it felt like looking at a TV screen, it was hard to believe that this was just a painting. I held out a hand to trace the details on the girls face but felt the wet paint on my fingers. It was painted recently, I realized.

"Admiring the painting I see?" I heard a voice ask

I whirled around and saw a young women, who I assumed was the art teacher.

I coughed nervously "Uh yeah, sorry" I started to head back to my seat.

She waved her hand dismissively "Oh no, don't be sorry, this kind of talent deserves to be ogled over" she motioned for me to come back to the painting. I hesitantly walked towards them and gave her a questioning gaze. She sighed "If only the painter would reveal themselves" She said.
