" Wisteria get up its time for breakfast," the exasperated voice of Lilly Evans drawled. Wisty opened her eyes with a long stretch, slightly resembling a cat, and yawned loudly. She wondered why it was that the world would punish her by waking her up so early. Voicing this, Lilly responded with,"It's eight thirty, were already late. Next time I'm leaving you to get in trouble." With that she stormed out, heading to the great hall. Wisty decided maybe she should get up and get ready for the day as it was the first day of classes. She began to put her uniform on when she noticed that Margeret hadn't moved since the day before. She walked over to her and pet her head down to her tail. She gently picked her up and put her inside her school bag, closing the flap without latching it. She then quickly grabbed her wand and headed out the dorm. When she reached the common room she noticed Sirius heading down from his dorm. She sleepily smiled at him and waited until he reached the portrait door. He returned the smile and they slowly made their way to the great hall. As they reached the second set of stairs they barely noticed the staircase behind them moving away.
" Bloody hell its too early for this," Sirius stated grumpily. Wisty giggled and leaned against the railing as they moved down the steps. When they finally reached the great hall they both sat down with the rest of their friends who laughed at the expressions on their faces.
" You two look like you could kill someone without issue. How are you this tired when classes haven't even started?" Remus questioned with a raised eyebrow. Wisty noted that he didn't look so good himself. Instead of commenting on that fact she just took a sip from her goblet, thankful that it was tea and not pumpkin juice. She had tried some of that the night before and nearly vomited. She sighed in content and laid her head down on the table. Just as she was about to fall asleep again she heard a meow come from her bag. She quickly looked up to see her friends staring strangely at her.
" I uh, didn't want to leave Mar alone in the room so I put her in my bag..." Wisty stated sheepishly. "She must be hungry." She then grabbed the safest looking meat she could find and placed her hand at the opening of her bag. She felt the turkey bacon being pulled from her hand and she released it slowly. Figuring that her cat may get hungry later she wrapped a few pieces of the bacon in a napkin and placed them in her pocket. When she was finished she looked at the laughing faces of her friends and smiled. Before she could begin a conversation with Remus about classes she heard the sharp voice of Professor McGonnagal.
" Mr. Black, Ms. Hawthorne how wonderful of you to finally join us. Here are your schedules. I hope you are not as late to your classes as you were to breakfast. I'll see you all soon." With that she left to, Wisty was assuming, her classroom.
" Is she always that lovely?" Wisty asked an older Gryffindor. He just responded with laughter. Wisty took that as a yes. Wonderful, she thought, I'm going to get so many detentions. Groaning she helplessly looked to Remus as he seemed to possibly be the most responsible of them, or just the one who was the best at evading trouble. " Remus? Can you make sure that I get up on time from now on? You can throw things at me if need be." Wisty said earnestly. Remus smiled and nodded while James and Peter chuckled. Not hearing anything out of Sirius she turned to him to see him drooling with his head laid on the table. With a mischievous smile, she grabbed another piece of bacon and placed it gently across his face. The others were trying to soften their laughter as to not awaken the sleeping boy. Before anyone could say anything to scold them they stood and headed to their classes. The four friends laughed and before Wisty started to walk away she shook Sirius' shoulder and ran to the others a safe distance away. They quickly left the great hall hearing their friends confused swearing as they went.~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
"I just don't understand this. Why do we have to write an essay on the first day? Especially in history of magic. And three pages?! Why does professor Binns hate us so much?" Wisty complained.
" Well, it might be he's jealous of the fact that we're alive. Or maybe he just hates children in general. He did become a teacher after all," Sirius answered. Wisty screwed up her face in frustration. She hated homework. She especially hated writing essays. She wasn't bad at it in the least, but she disliked writing about things that others had already written about. She wanted to discover things that no one would have even thought of. She wanted to find new and exciting things and she didn't care if she didn't make money from it, she just wanted adventure.
Deciding she may as well get it over with, she looked to her blank parchment and began writing. As she wrote she ignored the sound of footsteps behind her and thought of a creative way to word that she had no idea what she was writing about. She continues to ignore the feeling of weight on her hair even as it grew almost to heavy for her to keep her head up. Growing annoyed she grabbed her wand and whispered, "aguimenti," and pointed her wand behind her. She only smirked at the surprised yell of the culprit.
" Dammit Wisty was it not enough to put bacon on my face? I just wanted pay back and you squirted me!" Sirius complained.
" Oh dear, however will you go on?" She asked sarcastically without looking up from her paper. She heard muttering and footsteps going away, and she smirked. She had won this time, however a war had just begun between the two friends. I may have won the battle, she thought, but I have not won the war.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~Sitting by the fire, Wisty listened to all the commotion of the common room. Having finished her essay half an hour before, she decided to practice some charm she was reading about. The book was on charms that affected living things, like plants. She had a small flower in front of her and was trying to make it grow. So far she had shrunk it and then nearly set it on fire. Finally she said the charm and the flower grew and changed colour. Wisty wrinkled her brow, that spell wasn't supposed to change the colour. She then had to watch as the flower crumpled in on itself and turned to dust.
" Oh Hell. Rubbish spell," Wisty grumbled.
" Actually that spell works just fine. However you were moving your wand the wrong way. It's clockwise not counter clockwise. Though I see how you made the mistake," piped a familiar voice. Lily Evans stood next to the chair in which Wisty was perched. She had a helpful look on her face and was smiling kindly at Wisty. " I'm sorry I was so rude this morning, I was rather tired."
" No it's fine, and thank you for pointing out that I was wrong. I get my directions mixed up sometimes. You should hope I never learn to drive," Wisty joked.
" Do warn me if you ever decide to, I'll need to know to stay far away from any road," Lily joked back. The two giggled and fell into comfortable silence. They both watched as the flames danced in beautiful patterns until suddenly a body blocked their view.
" Hello I'm James Potter, and you are?" James directed his words at Lily.
"Lily Evans. Nice to meet you James," Lily blushed.
" Nice to meet you too. However I came here to talk to Wisty so, if you would please leave us alone." Lily's blush turned into an angry expression as she bid goodbye to Wisty and glared at James.
" Really James? That was rude!" Wisty scolded. James looked at her confused.
" What do you mean? I thought I was being polite."
" Please James, you can't be that daft," Wisty scoffed. James looked at her offended," sorry, now I'm being rude."
" It's alright. So I came to tell you that Sirius has declared war against you and that he won't accept surrender. I need to know if you will accept surrender so I can figure out whose side I'm on."
" Of course I'll accept surrender. I'd be a barbarian if I didn't. How do you think I was able to live in one place for so long? The neighbors could only take but so much," Wisty laughed. She recalled the look on her pompous neighbours face when she found the front of her house painted puke yellow. Her mother grounded her for weeks after that, but it was worth it. She smiled at James and he looked down in fake regret.
" I'm afraid I will not be joining you in this war, my friend. Sirius has my loyalty." With that he sped up to the boys dormitory. Wisty rolled her eyes and stood. She grabbed her bag and her wand and headed to her own dorm. She really hoped Sirius knew what he was getting into. She quietly changed into her Pyjamas and crawled into bed. She fell asleep with thoughts of the pranks she could pull to win this little war.
