The Letter

The slight, eleven year old girl ran to her front door and threw it open running up the creaky wooden stairs. She was so eager in her passing she didn't see the letter on the floor addressed to one Wisteria Hawthorne. The abandoned letter sat patiently in the hall filled with lovely flowers and other plants. The young girls mother was a botanist and especially loved to teach her daughter about the flowers she brought home.
The girl strongly resembled her mother yet had her fathers eyes. Eyes the colour of the densest forest at high noon. Her untameable chestnut hair surrounded her heart shaped face in a mane of curls. Her pink lips were always turned up in a mischievous grin and her slightly upturned nose made her look very pixie like. She was an absolutely charming little thing and had a nack for the unexplained. Although, even at the young age of eleven, she could talk her way out of almost any situation and used her large, round eyes to her advantage.
Though she may have been a normal looking girl she was very unique. During the many pranks she pulled on her school mates and unsuspecting pedestrians it was almost as if she enchanted some of the objects she used. Things just had a way of doing what she wanted them to. Whenever she would ask her mother about it she would just say " you're gifted like your father dear" and nothing more. The girl often wondered what her father was like and just what gift was it that he had.
Running back down the stairs the young girl at last sees the letter and inspects it thoroughly. Seeing her name scripted across the front she tears the scarlet seal. Opening the smooth parchment she quickly scanned the letter with amazement. Written in beautiful cursive were the words,
" Ms. Wisteria Hawthorne
Room nearest the stairs

Bradford, Yorkshire

Confused the girl took out the second peice of parchment and read the necessary supplies. The many things listed sounded strange to the girl, things such as robes and a pointed hat. The one thing that stood out most was the wand.
" Mum what's this letter all about? It's got to be rubbish." Wisteria shouted to he mother.
"Bring it here dear and I'll see," came her mother voice from the kitchen.
" Is it some birthday surprise you're giving me? I am turning eleven today." She said handing the letter to her mother. Her mother skimmed the letter letting out a gasp as she read. It couldn't be,she thought, it can't really be time. Looking at the curious face of her daughter she silently folded the letter and crouched to Wisteria's height.
"I guess it's time I told you my dear. Your father was a wizard and he went to Hogwarts. We knew this day would come but I always thought he'd be here to help explain. Anyway, my dear you are a witch and you must go to Hogwarts so that you can learn to control your magic. I know that it's hard to believe but I am telling you the truth. Now, we must travel to Diagon Alley to get your supplies. We'll go tomorrow since we don't have plans and then I can show you where to go at the train station." Her mother explained. Wisteria stood there with a look of pure confusion. I can't be a witch, she thought, I'm just ordinary Wisteria Hawthorne the girl that gets in trouble. All her classmates liked to tell her she would never do anything but get in trouble and be lonely all her life so surely what her mother said couldn't be true. She wasn't that special, was she? Deciding to just wait until tomorrow to see what happens she heads upstairs to wait for dinner.

Wisteria laced up her shoes and stood looking at her mother in disbelief. Her mother stood by the fire place with a strange jar in her hand.
"Come on Wisty we need to hurry." Her mother spoke softly. Wisteria slowly sulked to her mother. Though the girl was curious she couldn't help but think that this was to strange to be true. When she reached her mother she stood and looked skeptically at the fire place. Her mother calmly stepped into the fire place dragging Wisteria behind her. Once the were both in her mother advised her to hold onto her before throwing the powder down and yelling "Diagon Alley". Before Wisteria could react she suddenly felt herself being sucked through a tube. Holding her mothers hand tighter she tried not to scream. When she finally felt the ground beneath her feet again she nearly fell over and kissed the ground. Looking around she was amazed at what she was seeing. All around her were people dressed in robes holding different assortments of strange objects. Some were holding sticks and had luggage floating behind them. Others were staring at their children with pride and leading them to different shops. She looked to her mother who gazed around in sadness holding the necklace her husband had given her before Wisteria was born. Looking back at her daughter she pulled out the list of supplies that they would need and began moving towards the door of the shop.
Once in the street her mother led her towards a book store that had what appeared to be books on Magic. Finally believing what her mother had said a rush of excitement welled up inside her and she began skipping next to her mother. Smiling up at her mum she couldn't help but think that her world had truly and infinitely become complete.

A/N
So this will probably be the only chapter written like this. The rest of the chapters may be written in Wisteria's point of view. I'm not sure. Feed back is appreciated as long as you're not a jerk about it. Also if you have any ideas for a character later on I will consider them and any info you have about the marauders era is also appreciated.

Thanks for reading,
Mak
