....................................................

"Miss (y/n), can you please answer the question on the board?" your algebra teacher asks you from the front of the classroom.

Of course, you had already solved the problem on the board right after your teacher wrote it, so you simply exclaimed the answer. "Correct." he beams at you before turning back to the board to show the rest of the class how you got the answer.

"Miss Know-It-All strikes again." you hear someone sneer behind you before a chorus of snickers were heard.

Yes, just because you were really smart and got straight A's since the first grade, you've always been bullied. You're now in the tenth grade, and the bullying hasn't stopped. A buzz in your pocket helped you ignore the same-old jabs as you preceded to take your cellphone out of your pocket.

One the screen, it showed a reminder that you had another session with the schools guidance councilor next week.

These sessions first started when your English teacher last year noticed near the middle of the school year that you weren't paying attention in class and seemed really upset about something. Which you had been. During that time, your family was going through a difficult divot e, with your parents constantly fighting everyday.

Finally, after about 2 months, the divorce was finalized and your dad moved out if state, leaving g you and your mom. Yeah, he called regularly on the weekends to check up on you. But with the bullying and the divorce weighing down on you, you started to feel tired more often, no matter how many hours of sleep you had gotten from the night before. Then there were also some days were you just did not want to get out of bed and do anything, though those days were very few and far in between.

Your mother and the school guidance counselor had started to worry, so your mom took you to the family doctor.

You were diagnosed with mild depression.

So now, you've been having routine sessions with the guidance counselor, just to check in and show that you were doing okay. Of course, no one knew about the constant bullying-or they knew but just didn't care. You didn't want to be the one to tell anyone about it, because you thought that it would make you appear like you were weak. And that you couldn't just handle a little verbal abuse from people.

So the bullying continued-only verbally, never physically- and you continued to go to these sessions regularly.

Now, let's get back to the present.

The bell rings, signaling the end of class. Everyone was racing to get all their belongings together and out the door, to go stand in the lunch line in the cafeteria. Today, they were serving pizza. Right as you were about to exit the classroom with the rest of your peers, the teacher calls out, "Miss (y/n), I'd like to speak to you after class."

A chorus of "oohhhs" emanated around you as you moved out of everyone's way to stand in front of your teachers desk.

"Miss (y/n), you're one of my brightest students out of all of my classes, so I was hoping you'd maybe like to be a tutor for a student I have in another class. He's a foreign exchange student and needs help catching up to where we are in class. I can sign you up so that you can use a table in the library everyday after school for your tutoring sessions. What do you say?"he got straight to the point.
