A wonderful dinner

Marks perspective--
I went on a dinner date with Jack, this was our first date and I was super nervous. We had been going out for a month, but it had been long distance. He was planning on moving in as my roommate anyway, but we decided to postpone it since we started dating, just to see how thing played out. But I think it's going really well for just a month and long distance. We talked for hours every night and flirted. It's so early, but we've already said I love you 5 times. (5 each).

Jack-how have we not done this sooner?
Mark-I have no idea.

I smiled and looked down, his eyes lit up when I smiled. I leaned across the table and gave him a kiss. I was planning to propose, the ring was gold with emeralds imbedded in it.
It was later in the dinner when we were ordering dessert. Jack ordered I slice of cheese cake, so I ordered the same. Before the waitress left I have her a signal and she gestured me over to the kitchen.

Waitress-okay, are you ready?
Mark-Yes....I am.

I gulped. I took the ring out of my pocket and set it on his cheesecake, and put a folded note that said "Marry me?"
I felt as if I was going to vomit. I walked back to our table looking like a ghost.

Jack-What was that about?
Mark-Just checking something...
Jack-Okay.

We talked and laughed some more. The waitress purposely delayed the cheesecake so it didn't seem suspicious. She showed up with the cheesecake later.
She looked at Jack and said his cheesecake was delayed-as planned-because they needed to finish making it. Jack looked at me sadly, I jokingly rubbed it in his face that I had cheesecake and he didn't. The waitress showed up with Jack's dessert, and out a green cloth over it that said "I love you so much"

Jack- What is this?

Jack chuckled and took the cloth off, revealing the folded not saying "Marry me?"
He started to tear up and moved the note, revealing the ring.

Jack-I...oh my god.
Mark-I love you so much, please be with me.
Jack-Yes! Oh my god!! Yes!

We were both sobbing, and shaking. He got up and hugged me. I pressed my lips against his and help him close.

Jack-This is awkward...

He took a small box out of his pocket with a silver ring with rubies imbedded in it. We both laugh loudly, and hugged close.
