Starring Emmy Rossum, William H. Macy, Ethan Cutkowsky, Jeremy Allen White, Emma Kenney, Cameron Monaghan, and Steve Howey. The series began in 2011 and was brought to the United States by the same creators of it's British version that aired a few years earlier.
The series is not one for children as it circulates around the Gallagher family and their dysfunctional nature from sex to drugs and teen pregnancy to crude humor and intense language. It is an interesting show as each character has something they are trying to get through. For Fiona (Rossum), she is trying to raise the five children in the home as her dead beat father (Macy) only drinks and falls asleep on their kitchen floor. The other children, Carl (who could be psychotic-as thought in early episodes), Lip (the brain with the sex drive), Ian (the closet brother who falls for the risque jock), Debbie (a young girl just trying to fit in), and Liam (the baby who is just trying to grow), all go against the norms in order to function with the cards they have been given.
So far it consists of six seasons that have been emotional for every character in their individual ways. We have seen more love connections then we can count as well as marks for the dysfunctional Gallagher family. And yet, we are intrigued for what comes next!
Be sure to find out on October 2nd, 2016, when it returns!
Rated TV-MA for good reason! Strong language and sexual themes shine in each episode.
VERDICT!
Do not watch with anyone! As the show in its entirety is incredibly intense from the love scenes to the language and the themes of the episodes. It does range from everything to homosexuality to downsyndrome to suicide and drugs. Yet, captures the stereotypical Chicago city life.

-Ethan Cutkosky (Carl) asked to be written off for a few episodes at the end of season five because he was going to start high school and wanted to experience it properly.
-Prior to working on "Shameless", Justin Chatwin (Steve/Jimmy) and Emmy Rossum (Fiona) acted together in the film "Dragonball: Evolution. "
