Natsu Dragneel walked down the hallways of Magnolia High. He hugged his books and pushed up his glasses. Natsu was considered the nerd of the school. He hid his face in his scarf. People tease him , push him around. He was used to it though. His parents died when he was 5 , he was left in a orphanage. His dad gave him the scarf when he was 4 , that was his only memory of his dad before he died. Everyone knew about his past. Back in his freshman year thought he had a friend , he trusted him , but it was a mistake. He told his supposedly friend everything about his past. He felt stupid , cause the next day the whole school knew about it. Then his 'friend' said he was just using him , turns out he was friends with Loke , the guy who bullies him. There was one person he trusted but this was back in middle school and she probably doesn't remember him. They were best friends in middle school. Lucy Heartfilia , the most popular girl in Magnolia High. She was beautiful, nice had all the good traits , but sadly she doesn't remember him. Or so he thought. She remembered him perfectly , she told her friends about him. They told her that if she talked to him she would loose her popular image. She knew about his parents death's. Lucy would always see Natsu get bullied. She wanted to help Natsu , but sadly she never had the courage to help him. Until one day.
Natsu was putting his books away in his locker , until someone pushed him towards the lockers. He knew who it was. "Hey orphan!" Loke yelled. Natsu was starting to get angry. "I told you not to call me that!" Natsu yelled. Loke smirked. "Oh yeah and who's gonna stop me." He said while he grabbed Natsu's scarf and took some scissors from one of his friends and cut it in half. "NOOO!!" Natsu yelled while tears swelled on the corners of his eyes. "Aww is Natsu , gonna cry." Loke teased. "C'mon let's see your crying face." He grabbed Natsu's glasses and dropped them to the floor. He couldn't see anything. A tear slid down Natsu's face. "Aww now Natsu can't see." He evilly laughed. He pushed Natsu once more to the floor and walked away with his friends laughing. One they were gone Natsu grabbed the scarf that was torn in half. He looked at it , his eyes started to blur , either from tears or cause he couldn't see without his glasses. He then hugged it and started to sob.
Lucy saw the whole thing. She even had a few tears in her eyes. It hurt her heart the most when Natsu yelled for his scarf. When Loke and the others left. He fell to his knees to find the scarf. It honestly broke her heart seeing him like this. Then he started to sob. She thought , I'm done I don't care if I ruin my popular image , I care more about Natsu then what others think , It's time I finally comfort him , I'm done just sitting around watching him break without anyone helping. She walked up to him. "Hey." She said in the softest voice. He looked up with tears in his eyes. She honestly wanted to cry as well. "What do you want?" He said in a sad tone. "Are you here to make fun of me like the rest." He said. She wanted to give him a big hug. "No , I came here to comfort you." She said. He was surprised. Her , the Lucy Heartfilia wanted to comfort him. Maybe she remembers him. No. That's impossible. "You think I don't remember you?" She said sadly. "I see you everyday , getting bullied , getting picked on." Lucy revealed. "Then why didn't you do anything! If you were still my friend you would've helped me but no you care more about popularity that you even forgot about me!" He yelled with tears in his eyes. Tears forming in hers as well as she spoke. "I know , I know." She sobbed. "And I'm super sorry , I haven't been a true friend , but please believe me i still care about you , please believe me!" She begged. He looked at her then looked down. "How do I know your not lying , what if you leave me again like you did when we started high school , I tried talking to you but you just ignored me like I was some stranger! Maybe I should just kill myself , maybe that'll be better for everyone! No one cares about me!" He yelled back crying. "No! Don't say that!" She then kneeled down to hug him. It surprised him. "Please believe me , I'll never leave you again , I don't care about popularity just please be my best friend again , I care about you." She begged sobbing uncontrollably. Natsu hugged her back tightly. He did need his best friend back and he was glad that she remembered him all this time. "Look at me Natsu." She said as she pulled away and gently pulled his chin towards her so that he was looking at her. She cupped his face and cleaned his tears with her fingers. Her thumb ran over his bottom lip. He was blushing madly but then closed his eyes from the great sensation he was feeling. She ran her hands ran through his salmon hair. She remembered how he would correct people that it was salmon not pink. She smiled slightly. Lucy looked around for Natsu's glasses and grabbed them. "Open your eyes for me Natsu." She whispered. He opened his green eyes. Lucy always loved his eyes they were green with golden specks in them. Lucy grabbed the glasses and put them on him. "Don't ever say that no one cares about , cause I do and I promise I'll never leave you again." She whispered softly. Natsu nodded and hugged her tightly. "I love you , Natsu." She whispered in his ear. His eyes widened. "Y-you do?" She smiled "Yes I do love you , you've been my only true friend , everyone else just cares about popularity , your smart , nice and really cute." He blushed. He was extremely happy that the girl of his dreams finally confessed to him. Natsu has liked Lucy ever since middle school , he loved everything about her. "I love you to." He said. She leaned her forehead against his. Both closed their eyes. Lucy opened her eyes slightly and looked down at his lips. She leaned down and captured his lips with hers. His eyes shot open in surprise. Natsu looked at her , she had her eyes closed. He closed his eyes and kissed back , while cupping her cheek.
This was the happiest day of Natsu's life , he finally had someone to be with his whole life. Lucy was extremely happy that Natsu accepted her apology. Natsu was the only person she ever loved. They ditched the rest of the school day and walked home together , holding hands.
