Chapter One

Inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale... I quietly repeated these words to myself as my heartbeat raced with such speed that it felt like my heart was going to ram out of my chest at any moment. Anxiety was taking over my entire body, from my brain cluttering itself with worry, to my shaky legs. The first day of school, the day that everyone dreaded. Everyone around me seemed to cope so well with their nervousness, while I sat here with sweat literally beading down my forehead. My foot tapped at a steady pattern, I was sitting in first period, super early, as usual. The clock showed that it was 7:15, even though the first bell didn't ring until 7:45.

"Hey, does anyone sit here?" a deep voice startled me, as he grabbed the chair next to me and sat down anyways. Automatically I noticed how incredibly tall and cute he was. He seemed to be about six feet tall, with black hair that swooped just above his gorgeous green eyes, he was a model compared to little five feet and two inches, plain old straight brown hair and boring hazel eyes, me.

Before I knew it, the bell was ringing and Mr.Johnson was already at his desk, ready to begin the lesson. He quickly greeted us and then began on the role, "Summer, Alexandria, Marcus, Delilah" I quickly raised my hand at the sound of my name, "Here." nodding his head, he continued down the list, "...James, Lilly, Riley, Sam, Aiden" the cute guy next to me raised his hand nonchalantly with a "Yeah." and went back to chatting with Alex, the guy next to him. I'm not sure why, but this Aiden guy really stuck out to me, I don't know if it's his attracting green eyes, or maybe it's the cute laugh that erupts from his chest every time Alex makes a stupid joke, but something about him is different.

The first few periods were the same, "I'm blah blah blah and I'll be your teacher for the rest of the year. blah blah blah." And lunch quickly arrived, where I sat by myself and snacked on a bag of chips and some water. The only class I have with Aiden is first period, who I found out is in eleventh grade, while I'm only in ninth. So there goes that. As usual, I'm the quiet one that everyone just kind of ignores. But that's okay. I like it that way. This year is gonna be just like every other year. Simple.
