Vacation.
What a lovely thing.
Well, it's a lot more lovely when you actually get to go with.
Now I'm stuck trying to find somewhere to stay while my parents go out of the country for 2 months.
You may be thinking, Why am I not going on this long vacation?
According to my parents, it is so I won't miss a ton of school since it just started and the first few months are crucial to get to know your teachers and what not. It still sucks though, I'll be doing piles of homework while my parents enjoy their time far far away. Good for them though, all parents need a break at some point I suppose.
Now, this whole situation wouldn't be as troubling if my parents had trusted me on my own for the next two months but of course, like any parent would do, they are having me stay with a close family friend. I would've stayed with one of my close friends but none of them can let me stay that long since they have plans.
Unfortunately, I don't know my parent's friends as well as they do, but I've met them of several occasions since they live next door. Oh, and did I mention that they have a son? He's my age but I've personally never really talked to him before. I probably would've liked to keep it that way though. His name is Grayson Chase and he is what some may call the "bad boy" of our school. Although, it's not that he's done anything extreme, it is just the aura around him that gives him the title. He's the kind of guy that girls drool over but at the same time are slightly scared to actually go up and talk to him. He's tall and reserved, with jet black hair and light blue eyes.
However, I am not one of those girls.
My name is Presley Lockhart. I'm the kind of girl who is friendly around people but I have a close knit group of friends that I fully trust. I can be pretty sarcastic at times and goofy around my close friends. To people I'm not close to, I may appear as quiet or sometimes shy but once you get to know me I can be super outgoing. My hair is a dark brown and I have matching light brown eyes. I consider myself tall at 5'8".
So you can imagine my slight nervousness when I'm going to be temporarily living with Grayson Chase who is kinda intimidating and mysterious. My best bet will be to just keep my contact with him at a minimum so I can get through the next two months peacefully.
So, after saying goodbye and having the normal "behave while we're gone" talk with my parents I am left alone to pack before I may next door. My parents left a key with me so I don't need to bring everything next door.
And that is how I ended in front of the Chase's front door with a suitcase and book bag in my hand.
It takes about 30 seconds for someone to open the door. "Hey Presley!" Mrs. Chase greets me with a smile on her face. She is a little shorter than me, about 5'6". I'm pretty tall so it doesn't surprise me that she is shorter.
"Hi Mrs. Chase, thank you for letting me stay." I say as a go to shake her hand but she pulls me into a hug.
"You're welcome dear. You can call me Barbara, come in!" She smiles widely at me and I can't help but smile back. "Henry, come here!" She shouts into the house as she looks back at me.
A tall man greets me and I recognize him as Mr. Chase. "Hello Presley, how have you been?" He shakes my hand with a warm smile on his face.
