'hi! I'm Ash!' Ashley beamed, jumping onto her brother's back, startling him and Tyler from her sudden outburst. Josh nearly toppled over after the sudden weight was dropped on him, but he regained his balance, hoisting her up onto his back until they were both in a comfortable position. She looped her arms around his neck and legs around his torso so not to fall.

'do you wanna play?' Ash offered Tyler, giving him a closed-eye smile. a light rosy blush appeared over Tyler's squishy cheeks.
'we can be friends!' Josh added, giving a smile almost identical to Ash's and causing Tyler's blush to deepen.
'I've never really had any friends.' Tyler mumbled quietly, but loud enough for Josh to pick it up. He felt bad for the poor kid he just found in the woods.
'it's okay, you have us now!' Josh said, a smile on his face and his own cheeks turning pink. Tyler smiled at the siblings' kindness and generosity.

'race you into the water!' Josh yelled, running to the river, followed closely by Ashley and Tyler, since he had to get undressed, a few feet back. Ash and Josh landed together, laughing and splashing each other, waiting for Tyler to jump in after them.

a few hours later, Tyler and Josh were tired out, so they lay in the grass on the river bank to dry out wile Ashley continued swimming.
'so, tell me about yourself, Ty. is it okay if I call you that?' Josh asked, rolling onto his side to look at him.
'yeah. uh, well... my full name is Tyler Robert Joseph. I am 9 years old. I like basketball, I want to join a team when I'm older.' he replied. Josh smiled as he watched him talk about something he loved.
'what about you?' Tyler asked, catching Josh off guard. His cheeks flushed, but he quickly recovered.
'oh, uh, I'm 9 too, and I like music, or what I've heard of it. oh, and my full name is Joshua William Dun.'
'sick.' Tyler replied, giving a small smile to the boy next to him.

Josh rolled back onto his back, so he was directly facing the sky. Tyler continued looking at him. he took notice to every detail of his face, the curves around his mouth, the way his eyebrows arched, the colours of his eyes and the way they could melt anyones heart with even the smallest glance. The shape of his nose, the way his hair fell across his forehead, no longer wet, but hanging in medium length curls. Josh looked over at Tyler, who quickly diverted his attention to a bird who was making noise like there was no tomorrow.

Josh stood up, holding out a hand to Tyler to grab for assistance. he took the offer, and felt shocks through his body as their hands interlocked. standing up, thoughts were racing through his mind, like 'what was that?' 'did he feel that too? he didn't look like it.' these thoughts were dominating his brain, and he didn't hear Josh call out to his sister, nor her response.

he went to bed that night, still thinking about that moment.
'did he feel it too?'
