[direct messages]Mom sent a message to: Clara and Dad
Mom: Clara where are you
Dad: we stopped by your apartment and Kayla answered
Mom: she said you weren't there and you weren't coming back until Friday?
Dad: answer our messages right now Clara
Mom: Kayla didn't even tell us where you were are you ok?
Clara: mom, dad, I'm fine.
Dad: why didn't you answer us right away?
Clara: because I was busy, I'm sorry
Mom: where are you?
Clara: I'm in California
Dad: why are you in California? Are you by yourself?
Clara: no, I have friends here that are with me
Mom: we didn't give you permission to go to California
Clara: that's because I didn't ask.
Clara: I'm an adult now Mom I can make adult decisions now
Dad: yes, you are. but you're supposed to come to us first before you do
Clara: why? I had the money, I had the days off from work. I didn't think it was necessary
Mom: that doesn't matter. we're your parents you can't just get up and leave whenever you want without telling us
Clara: you guys have kept me in Chicago practically all my life, why couldn't I go somewhere for a break just once?
Dad: because we didn't work as hard as we did for you to take breaks. you haven't even found yourself a stable career yet, you're still working at a retail store and a bakery. is that the life you want to live forever?
Clara: I'm working on my career, but I'm young and I should be able to experience things once in awhile right?
Mom: you can do that when you retire.
Clara: you guys wouldn't understand
Dad: what do you mean we wouldn't understand? We get that you want to travel and see new things, but you can do that once you have your life together
Clara: why shouldn't I be able to do it now? What's the point in waiting?
Mom: you obviously don't have your priorities straight
