Hello everybody,
This is my very first poem of hopefully many more to come in this series. If you like it, please vote and comment! Thank you all so much! <3~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wingless and without flight
He found himself in quite the plight.
Brokenhearted when at his best,
he dreamed of abandoning the nest.
For in the air, she could be found
flitting, twirling without a sound.
Pirouettes in open air;
No wonder he couldn't help but stare.
Enchanting colors and perfume scent
had his logic twisted, bent.
Every day at noon or so
he would stand on tippy toe
peering over his hated cage
to watch the other birds with rage.
Why oh why could he not fly?
Her winks and glances told him to try.
Like all hopeless romantics do,
he acted without thinking through.
There he stood, on his branched ledge
and hesitantly peered over the edge.
Maybe now she'll notice me,
realize what we could someday be.
"Here I come!" He sang to all,
and with a leap he began to fall.
Little did he know, poor love,
She had been watching from above.
His intentions clear, she let out a cry
to warn the others passing by.
She had attempted to alter his fate
but she knew deep down she was too late.
He panicked and began to tread on air
(A note to the faint-hearted, beware)
His last coherent thought, of course,
was of the bird that filled his heart with remorse.
It felt as if her heart wouldn't pound
as she watched the bird crash to the ground.
Tears welling up, she approached where he lay;
the bird she had hoped to fly with someday.
