Chapter 3: Promise made

Castiel P.O.V

I think that a few hours had passed when I finally woke up, the sun had already started to set. I checked my watch and freaked out when I realized the time. It was already 8 o'clock, and I had left home at 3:30, a lot if time had pass, Mom and Dad must have realized that I wasn't in my room, like I was supposed to. I thought that I was in so much trouble. I was scared to go home, but I had to anyway.

As I got up, I could hear something crying. I search for where the sound came, and I discovered a den. Inside of it laid a small and little dirty wolf pup crying for his mother. As I got closer I realize that the pup was alone, no mother or siblings to be found, just and empty and abandoned den, with a crying lonely wolf pup.

I lowered my head as tears started to leak out of my eyes, I clenched my tiny fist trying to hold in my tears as the pup cried. As a kid I could relate to the wolf, I knew how it felt to be lonely and an outcast. My tears got faster and my voice got louder as I picked up the wolf and held him carefully but close to my chest, trying to comfort him. As I started to walk home the little pup calmed down, but I was still a crying mess.

Before I was even a block away from my house I could already see Mom and Dad, I must have been crying really loud or maybe someone from the community told them. Mom came running towards me and picked me up, inspecting me from injuries. They were both worry to find their constantly sick child was outside crying, that they failed to notice what I was holding in my arms.

"Honey, he doesn't have his glasses, and his all scratched up" Mom said worriedly to Dad.

After Mom had stop inspecting me she let Dad picked up and carried me inside,while she closed the door. Once inside Dad rocked me, up and down trying to calm me, which it work because, I did calmed down. Once I was calmed, he position me in the couch allowing me to sit, while he sat on a chair in front of me. He then proceeded to asked me questions.

"Now son, why weren't you in your room? Do you know how dangerous it's for you to be outside? Looked at you, you are all hurt. What were you thinking?" As he continue to ask question without letting me answer, I started to cry again. I was scared that he was going to stop loving me.

"I am sorry, *hic* dad" I remember saying trying to hold my tears back.

Mom enter the room and saw me crying. She handed the aid kit to Dad and hugged me. That when she notice something moving in my shirt.

"Umm... what is that?" Mom asked shocked.

Mom stepped away from me, and I showed her what I was holding. Both Mom and Dad looked shocked to find out that it was a wolf pup. Dad try to pick it up but I would not let him.

"Castiel give me the pup" he order, but I denied.

I held the pup toward my chest and ran to my room, as fast as I could, it must have been faster than before because both Mom and Dad looked shocked. I ran into my room and locked the door. Soon after Mom was knocking on the door.

"Sweety, you need to open the door this instant. You should know that the pup is supposed to be in the wild, not cooped up in a room. It belong outside"

"He belongs outside?...but I belong inside" I mutter. I am pretty sure she heard me,being a Lykos and all, but she didn't say anything about it.

"Baby boy, it's mother must been looking for him"

"No it's NOT" I shouted. "The pup was abandoned, with no mother or siblings" I said "It was left to die alone" I whispered.

Soon after, I heard steps moving away from the door. Mom must have left to talk with Dad in the living room. I decided to go to sleep since it was already late. I changed into my pjs and went to bed with the pup. I laid down and laid him next to me, on top of the pillow.

"Don't worry, you will no longer be alone, now you have me" I said while smiling. "Good night... umm. You don't have a name, but don't worry, I should give you one" As I though of a name, I started to think that I want to change, that I wanted to become strong. So I decided to name him strength. "Kratos, that your name, it means strength. Nice to meet you Kratos, my name is Castiel, but you can call me Cassie" I said laughing, knowing that normal wolf can't really talk."Good night Kratos, sweet dreams".

At night I started to feel weird, I feel like someone was calling me, I felt like someone needed me, so I woke up. I open my eyes and I started to look for Kratos, but I couldn't find him. I started to panic. I open the door and realized it was unlocked. Mom or Dad must have unlocked it when I was sleeping. They must have taken Kratos with them, I remember thinking then.

"KRATOS" I screamed while running towards my dad's office. I had a feeling that, that's where they were. Once on front of the door, I stopped and try to open the door, but I couldn't because it was locked. "Open the door, now" I demanded with tears in my eyes. My voice must have woken up Kratos because he started crying.

"Castiel go back to your room" he said through the door.

"No Dad, Open the door and give Kratos back" I demanded again

"Sweety, he is going to the animal shelter tomorrow in the morning" mom said coming towards me, she wasn't in the office with Dad.

"NO, YOU WON'T TAKE HIM WAY" I shouted angrily and pounded at the door. I must had use all of my force, because I broked the lock making the door swing open. I was so shoocked that I looked at my hands. I didn't know I had that strenght within me, but I quickly ignored it, while I ran inside the office and toward Kratos. Both my parent were shocked aswell with my sudden burst of strength that they made no effort to stop me.

I picked Kratos up, and held him in my chest. "Don't worry I am here now, they won't take you away from me" I said to Kratos. I soon as I held him to my chest and he heard my voice he calmed down, and stopped crying, and went back to sleep.

"I won't allow you to take my only friend away from me, I made a promise and I will
keep it, I will protect him" I said to both Mom and Dad.

"Baby boy, keeping a wolf pup is a big responsibility, it not the same as having a pet dog"

"Kratos is not a pet, he's my friend" I said angrily.

"Castiel, I know that you think that but we can't..." Mom try to said.

"Ok, you can keep him" Dad said cutting Mom off.

"What?" Mom said surprised.

"He can keep it, but with a condition. You will have to drink all your medicine without any complains" Dad negotiated.

"But I don't feel sick anymore" I told my dad.

Both my parent looked at each other, and then looked back at me. They must have been communicating true their mind link, one of a lykos ability. I looked back at my parents wondering what were they talking about. I gave a yawn and got my parent attention.

"Alright, baby boy, is late and you should be sleeping, we will talk in the morning about you not feeling sick anymore, ok. You can take the pup with you"

I noded at my mom, letting her know that I understood. I went toward them and gave them a hug, and they kissed me back.

"Good night, Mom, Good night Dad" I said to them.

I left both of them in the office and headed toward my room with Kratos.

Once I got to my room, I made sure to locked the door, and for extra precation, I moved my dresser in front of the door, bloking it.

I whent to my bed and dragged one of my many blankets and a pillow underneath my bed. Before I went to sleep under my bed with Kratos, I made my bed look like I was sleeping in it. Just making sure that if they change their mind, they couldn't find us. I though it was such a clever idea.
