There once was a boy, no ordinary boy but still a boy , who lived in a house on the edge of a small town that was once known as EdgeBridge. The quaint little town was full of mystery, but many have come to visit this town to find great machines that could break the earth in two and even man-made life. No one had ever perfected the technology quite yet and not a single had emotions till a lonely old man, so near to the end, created a boy. This boy had been brought to life by a clock that ticked and cranked, it was his heart. All you heard as you listened was the sound of a heart and yet still it was a clock. Thump. Thump. Clank. It went day and night. This boy built only of machines lived alone in the small cottage at the end of the last street, there in the window sits the boy waiting for his father to finally come home. And this is the story of that boy with the man-made heart.

Chapter One: Broke

She was pulled forward towards the house. The gravel beneath her feet gave little traction as her body was torn forward towards the old house told to be haunted. Her body ached and was limp as she continued forward. Her mind had made her body exhausted and even though she protested her body was drawn to the dusty copper knob of the back door. The cold substance under her hand creaked as the knob was turned slowly to the unlocked door. The room was covered in silt and eroded wood was flaked across the ruined flooring. She took in a breath, the smell of oil stung her nose with a single wiff. Thump. Thump. Clank. The sound slowly haunted her mind as she took another step towards another dusty doorway. She took another deep breath trying to calm her own heart as the other peculiar heartbeat slowly coming again and again. It sounded closer as she hid away from the open doorway. She held her breath creeping around the doorway and came face to face with two mismatched eyes that stared intently into her own. She stumbled backwards and screamed as the boy cocked his head sideways in confusion. Her breath quickened watching the boy, his skin pale and his hair a mahogany blonde hair that was tied back but his eyes scared her most. One a bright blue that seemed dead yet it still moved along with the other, his other was a bright gold, the same eyes of a wolf ,and both studied her face. He slowly came forward as her mind began to go blank as his feet slowly shuffled closer... Tick. He stopped a foot away from the black polished shoes of the girl. He took a crooked turn towards the doorway and he tottered to the other room. The room had many cans of oil littering the floor and he picked one up then slightly tipped it to have only drops come from the once full can. He reached for another can than fell onto the ground placing the opening to his lips and chugged the black liquid. She stumbled further backwards watching the thick black oil slowly drip down his pale chin. She stepped back and caught the end stair of the creaky staircase behind her, as she went crashing down into the edge of them making her shriek and began to cry.

"Why are you a monster?" She cried terrified of this boy who drank oil and could've killed her.

"What?"he stuttered puzzlingly."No.monster." His voice was hoarse as he slouched forward, placing the now empty can to the ground as it tottered over and collapsed to its side.

"Are you gonna kill me?!" she stuttered trying her to find something to kill it with. His face turned white as a sheet and just as he looked up the girl had a large metal pipe. Thump. Thump. Thump. Clank. His heartbeat sped up and the sound hurt the girl's ears and she was not afraid, she was not terrified... she was horrified. She grasped the pipe as she tried to stop her body from shaking. She gasped for air and squeezed her eyes shut as she brought the pipe down onto the boy. Then it stopped.
