As soon as we walked into the restaurant I saw him. Dave and I dated for three years. Before that we were best friends for seven. We ended things about 2 months ago. He was always filming and flying to interviews. It's not all his fault though, it's probably more my fault than his. I was always locked up in my apartment writing.

"Come on Mel! Let's go to dinner." Dave sighed.

"I have to finish this chapter. I can't think of how they are going to get out....... Ugh! I don't know what else to write!" I yelled throwing my pen.

"Mel, maybe you should clear your head. You know, take a break. Get some fresh air."

"I can't!" I turned around and yelled. "I have writers block and, to add pressure, my publisher is breathing down my neck to get the second book sent out to him! I don't have time for a date. I don't have time for....."

"Me?"

"I guess not." I said turning around and going back to writing.

"Melody? The table's ready." Said Andrew. Andrew is my editor's assistant. He's been asking me out for weeks and I finally said yes.

I sucked in a breathe when I realized we were gonna walk right by his table. I decided to not look at him and act like he wasn't even there.

That didn't happen.

Right as we neared his table, he looked up. The look in his eyes as he recognized me made my heart sink. We held each other's gaze until I had passed him.

I sat through my date trying not to look at the back of Dave's head. Every once in a while he would look over his shoulder at me. Every time I saw his eyes, I felt guilty.

"Should we go?" Andrew asked reaching across and taking my hand.

"What? Oh ummm yeah. Let me just go to the bathroom real quick." I felt terrible. There was nothing between me and Andrew. This was probably going to be our one and only date.

After I did my business, I was washing my hands when the door opened.

"Mellie?" I looked up and quickly turned around.

"Dave? What are you doing in here?"

"I couldn't believe it when I saw you walk in. You look..... You look amazing. How's your book coming?" He asked nervously putting his hands in his pockets.

"Umm good. I'm almost done, actually."

"That's awesome! I can't wait to read it." I just nodded. There was an awkward silence.

"Who ummm..... Who was that guy..."

"Dave, don't."

"No it's fine. I mean.... It's been two months and you...you deserve to be happy." He rambled on.

"It's not like that Dave."

"Listen Mellie... I mean Melody."

"Please call me Mellie. I haven't been called that in such a long time." I smiled.

"Okay." He smiled before walking up and taking my hands. "I miss you. So much Mellie. I never wanted to end things with you. I love you. I've always loved you. Ever since I walked out, I've regretted it. I..... I should've come back. I shouldn't have left. You were stressed and I knew that. I should've been more understanding. I should've gotten you some coffee or rubbed your back. I'm sorry Mellie. I really am. I want to support you, every step of the way. Even the stressed filled writer's block days. All I want is for you to be happy."

"I was. With you." I shrugged. He looked up and smiled. "I miss you too. I'm sorry my writing got in the way of us. I'm sorry."

Dave reached up and brushed a piece of hair behind my ear. "I don't want to be without you." He whispered. "But I know you're with that guy."

"I'm not with him." I interrupted.

"What?" He asked surprised.

"I don't want him. I want you. He doesn't come close to you. You make me happy, not him."

Dave smiled before pulling me into his chest and pressing his lips to mine. Our lips immediately moved in sync as his wrapped his arms around my waist pulling me closer.

When neither one of us could breath, we pulled apart. "Please, take me back. I can't live without you and I don't want to."

"Guess I'm gonna have to tell Andrew I found another ride home." I smirked before I pressed my lips to his.
