"Ouch! Damn this is hot. Good God woman, where are you taking me?"
The woman in front of him just giggled and navigated through the hot sand with ease. He thought to himself he would follow her anywhere as long as he could be with her.
"Are we almost there?" he asked.
"Listen you, I have trekked through the woods with you, used an outhouse and shampooed my hair in a creek. You, my lovely, will quit complaining and keep walking." She smiled as she looked over her shoulder. "What's the saying, you can take a boy outta the bush but not the bush outta the boy."
She heard a roar of laughter and a loud noise behind her. She whirled around only to be caught by the waist by his arms. He steadied her so she didn't fall over the beach gear he had just dropped. She loved the feel of his arms around her. It made her feel safe and secure from her past demons.
"Thanks for coming home to Carolina with me. She whispered in his ear.
He smiled and whispered back to her that he had plans for her later. "Payback is hell."
"I like hell."
Bam replied, "Aren't we already there? It's hot as hell out here." Bam wasn't accustomed to the heat. It wasn't a dry heat but one that made every piece of of clothing cling to you.
Bam had worn too much clothing. He should have listen to her and dressed in his shorts and tshirt. This definitely wasn't Alaska.
