SAM'S POV

Shit. First day of senior year and I'm late. I run into the classroom hoping I'm not the only late one. My thoughts were interrupted by the teacher saying

"Okay, that leaves only one more student before I can take attendance"

With that, she glared at me and I just took my seat, wondering who the last person was. A couple minutes pass and Mrs. Cook, my math teacher, starts calling attendance without the last person. After all the names were called, a girl with stunning emerald eyes, black hair with bits of fiery red and multiple bracelets that lay on her arms entered the room. I stared at her as I recognized her face.

"You must be Kyra Aspen?" Mrs. Cook questioned and my eyes widened. Kyra. Kyra Aspen.

"Yup, that's me" she said and then added "Sadly" and took the only empty seat, which happened to be right next to me.

"Are you okay there, bud?" She said as she looked at me with a smirk showing on her face.

"Uh" I said, clearing my throat "Yes, I'm fine, but you on the other hand. What the fuck happened?"

First, I regretted saying it, thinking that I would offend her but I did the opposite.

"What the fuck happened? Well, you see, life happened. That little fucker  showed up knocking at my doorstep one day. Ya know?" she said with no emotion appearing on her face. I just shook my head and turned to face the teacher, chuckling. After our teacher gave us our assignment for the day, I couldn't prevent myself from looking at Kyra. Soon, I found myself staring at her. I admired how beautiful she actually was.

KYRA'S POV

I could sense that Sam was staring at me as I blankly looked at the assignment, which I don't even think is in English. As I got an idea, I laughed to myself and I went with the idea. I looked up at Sam, cleared my throat and raised my eyebrow at him. Then, he finally realized I noticed him and I started laughing as his cheeks turned bright red.

"I expect that you're working on your assignment, right Kyra?" I heard the teacher say and I turned around and smiled sweetly

"Oh yes, I am. If only it was in English, then I would be able to understand it." I stated as others around me started laughing and I smiled smugly at myself.

"Well, if it's so hard to understand, I suppose your friend Sam would love to tutor you" She said and I turned to Sam, seeing that his eyes widened and jaw dropped.

"Oh? I didn't know that you were a tutor? Let alone, wanting to tutor me" I said, using my famous smirk.

"Um yes, i'm a tutor. I got smarter through the years, but I guess you didn't." He said with venom laced through his voice, causing me to laugh.

"Yeah, I was busy worrying about whether I wanted to continue living or not. It's slightly more important than algebra" I whispered, making only Sam able to hear it. At first he just glared at me, not realizing what I actually said. Then, he turned pale. Paler than me, which is like as white as snow. I laughed and continued staring at the confusing paper.

"I guess I can tutor you, if you want of course." I heard him mumble. I just looked up into his brown eyes and slowly nodded, smirking. At that moment, the bell rang and I got up, going to my next class which is probably more boring than the first. I caught up with Sam, who was walking alone too.

"Hm, I wonder where your friends are, considering how popular you were in middle school" I stated.

Sam rolled his eyes and mumbled "Shit happens. I have my priorities straight now"

"Poor Sam, lost his touch with living a bit" I said shaking my head.

"It's not like that. I can 'live a bit'" He snapped

"When was the last time you went to a party?" I said

"That doesn't matter" He said, as he balled up his fists "You should stop talking to me before I punch you"

"I'm not scared of you" I stated, rolling my eyes. "So, where to next?"

"French" He grumbled

"Damn, I'm going there too" I said, letting out a sigh

"I don't understand you" He said and shook his head

"Good." I said simply. I didn't need people to understand me. I don't understand me. If someone understands me, they might try to help me, which I don't deserve. I don't deserve any time anyone gives to help me.

"Penny for your thoughts" Sam interrupts my thoughts by chucking a penny at my head.

"I don't want your penny, but that floor does so ask the floor for it's thoughts" I muttered

"Fine" He huffed, walking into the classroom ahead of me.

"Bitch" I said to myself
