The loud slam of the door surprised Karamatsu and he jumped, spinning around to look at you as you stormed inside and flung your purse onto the kitchen table. You yanked out a chair and flopped down, putting your head in your hands.

Karamatsu finally unfroze and quickly walked over to you, putting a gentle hand on your back. "What's the matter, my honey?"

You looked up at him. He could tell you were trying not to cry and his face fell. "I got fired," you mumbled, you voice shaking.

Karamatsu bit his lip, his hand now moving around and rubbing your back. "Why?" He asked. He wasn't exactly sure how to comfort you yet.

"They were just laying off some people that I guess they didn't see as useful anymore," you sobbed, wiping your eyes. Karamatsu pulled up a chair next to you and wrapped his arm around your back. You leaned into him and he did the best job he could of comforting you.

"They're going to see sometime soon how wrong they were to fire you... That place will crash and burn without you!" He declared.

You laughed, making Karamatsu even more confused. "Thanks, Kara, but I don't think it'll be that bad... They did have a surplus of younger workers that weren't really needed so I can't blame them."

Karamatsu nodded slowly and took his hands off of your back. As he was recoiling his arm he gasped. You had shot your hand out and grabbed his wrist. He flinched and but back a yelp, his arm tensing immediately.

You gasped. "Karamatsu!" The sound of his name shouted at that volume made him flinch again. "What the hell are these?"

He turned away, but he knew very well that you were referring to the few faded lines on his wrist. They weren't technically new, but they weren't old by any means either. You had never seen them before, anyway.

"Kara, answer me." Your voice didn't sound mad, just distressed. Karamatsu said nothing, pulling his wrist back from you and pulling the underside of his arm to his chest. He didn't know how to answer. How was he supposed to explain it to you anyway? Relapses weren't that easy to explain how or why they happened; they just kind of do.

He turned away, unable to look at you. He was shaking uncontrollably and he felt like you could hear his heartbeat. Shit, he didn't want to act like this in front of you. "I-it's not a big deal," he mumbled.

"Not a big deal?" You repeated, your voice still carrying the same worried tone. This time Karsmatsu didn't flinch when he felt your touch on his shoulder. You made your way around him and slowly removed his arm from his chest. Karamatsu was still tense, trying to stop shaking. He watched silently as you ran your finger slowly and carefully over his fading scars. "Kara, self harm is a very, very big deal."

Karamatsu took his hand away once again, but this time less forcefully. "I know. I'm fine, though, I promise. It was just a relapse." He was avoiding your gaze again, rubbing his arm.

"Next time something like this happens will you please tell me?" You asked, touching his elbow. He finally turned to look at you. You had a small, sad smile on your face. Karamatsu nodded and you hugged him suddenly, taking him by surprise. "I really don't want to lose someone as lovely as you."
