Dominican Republic"Where are you taking them?" I screamed as hot tears rolled down my red cheeks. It was snowing but my body was overheated, filled with so many emotions.
I grabbed on to my little brothers jacket who had the same fearful expression. He looked at me with tear filled eyes while I tried to pull his body to mine.
The officer between us pushed me back and kept ushering him to the car.
"Stop please! What's happening why are you doing this?" I sobbed loudly. In my peripheral I could see them rolling the body that was under a black cover.
"They're too young to be around death. Your father should've avoided this," the officer said and pushed me back once again. Another officer came behind me and restrained me from running towards them again.
"Don't take them! Don't take them!" I screamed as my throat tightened. My world was crumbling to pieces in front of me.
"They're all I have left please," I cried and went limp, my knees hitting the cold snow. I watched the ambulance roll away first.
As the police car with my siblings stared driving away I fought the officers hold and ran up to the moving window.
"I'll come for you! I promise! Stay strong," I said to them as my hand slapped the cold window rapidly.
My brother pulled our younger sister into his side and mouthed that he loved me before I watched the blue and red lights flicker into the distance.
The final cop got into his car and pulled up beside my tired body that stood in the street.
"Call your lawyer, you can get them back if you can live on your own for six months. I suggest leaving this lifestyle," that was all he said before he sped off as well.
I fell into the snow and put my head into my frost bitten hands.
I had no option but to leave.
