"Are you sure you have everything? Did you pack everything you need? Maybe we should wait until school is closer for you to leave." My mom says as she tries to take my suitcases back in the house. She is a wreck right now. She has been trying to find reasons to try and persuade me to stay. Last night her reason was that since the zipper pull broke on my suitcase, it was sign I shouldn't go. Obviously all of her attempts failed since I am still leaving this morning with Libby.
"Mom I need to go pick Libby up. We have to hit the road if we want to try and make it there by tomorrow afternoon. Everything will be fine. I will make sure and text both you and dad everytime we stop."
"My little girl. I am just so worried about you girls. Are you sure you want to drive? Its not too late to just by plane tickets, maybe for next month? or closer towards school starting?"
"Oh she will be fine. You are just going to create more time for her on the road if you keep talking to her here any longer." My dad comes out the front door and places a hand on my moms shoulder.
Its currently 5:30 in the morning and I was supposed to have left thirty minutes ago to pick up Libby. She is going to stay with me until the end of June and fly back so she can move into her dorm and training for softball. I'm actually glad she is going with me. Of course I'm nervous about living out there by myself, but I'm happy she will be with even for a short time so that I can get settled in.
"Mom I love you, but I really need to get on the road." I pulled them both in for a hug. "I will text you guys Everytime we stop. I'm going to miss you both so much" My voice crack a little. Great now I'm going to start crying.
"Okay honey. I don't want you getting in too late. You better get on the road." Dad pulls away looking to the left so that he can wipe his eye without us noticing.
"I love you guys!" I turn to walk down the sidewalk towards my car. I unlock it and close myself in. I turn the key.
"Okay. This is it. I can do this." I look up and see my parents on the bottom steps of the porch. My mom's face blotched and red, while my dad is trying to stay strong, but his eyes are now red. They smile at me and I smile back. I pull out of the driveway and stop on the road. I take one last look at my parents and wave at them and they wave back.

We arrive at the apartment around 1 in the morning, and didn't even bother unloading anything besides the air mattresses and our suitcases. I will definitely have to look for a bed, but for now air mattress it is.
Luckily I found an apartment near campus. It has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, but of course I can't afford a whole apartment with appliances myself, so I will have a roommate. Her name is Amber, but she is in Arkansas visiting family until late July.
I'm glad she wasn't here, not because I didn't want to me her, but because I would have felt bad coming in so late and waking her up. Libby and I were both pretty grumpy because of the long drive, and the hotel we ended up staying at smelled of smoke, so we didn't sleep that well. We didn't really take a look around he apartment. Amber told me which room was mine already when I was chatting with her, so I didn't have to worry about stumbling into her room. Once we set up the air mattresses we were out.
It is now currently 10 a.m., and Libby is still fast asleep. I don't blame her. I would have slept longer if I would've remembered to text my parents last night telling them we got here safely, but I didn't so I woke up to my phone continuously buzzing with texts from my mom. I only had one text from my dad saying to text them whenever I wake up. I should probably go ahead and send them a text.
