Key- Shinee
"Sammi!!" My mother yelled from another room. I rolled onto the floor gripping my comforter to my body while unsuccessfully trying to crawl into the kitchen. It was pancake day, the traditional first day breakfast, and I wasn't feeling up to the long day ahead of me. I smothered the pancakes in syrup not noticing the small amount to leak onto the bacon strips at the side of the plate. I ate slowly recovering from the sleepless night only a few hours ago. Mom sat behind me brushing back my shoulder length hair into a high ponytail. Mom always loved doing my hair, ever since I was small. She watched me finish off my food before grabbing the car keys telling me on her way out the door "you'll be fine, I promise! I love you!" It got quiet in the house which felt unnatural. I quickly turned on the news as background noise while I got dressed in my freshly ironed uniform. It was time to leave as I put my simple makeup on, a small amount of eyeliner. My phone buzzed while I walked down the street, something i wasn't used too as I was always unpopular. I opened the phone to messages and clicked on the unknown number.
(123)***-****
Hey, I need to talk to you at school later. Is lunch good?
Um, I think you have the wrong
number...
Omg, I am so sorry!!
It's ok. I would just rather you
didn't text or call me again...
No problem!!I deleted the conversation. Before continuing down the path to school. When I reached the large gate I froze, aware of the crowd surrounding it in their cliques. I maneuvered my way through them and into the main building. I followed the signs into the large office containing most of the staff. One woman looked at me for a second then walked towards me slowly in perfect stride with 4" heels. She reached me and introduced herself as my home room teacher Mrs. Lee. She motioned for me to join her at her desk and handed me a few objects. "Don't lose the student guide it has all the rules and a map of the school...oh hello class representative." She said the last part startling me enough to turn my head to look behind me. An average sized boy looked down at me, scrutinizing the details of my face it seemed. I turned back towards Mrs.Lee too ask her where the classroom was. "Oh, the class representative can show you, right?" She looked towards the boy again. He nodded slowly before handing the teacher a stack of paper. "You coming?" He looked back at me and asked. I caught up with him while he was as the door and managed to stay with him mentally as he showed me where the alternate classrooms were, on the way. We reached the classroom and I stood still, nervously poking my arm with my index finger. My mother's words floated back to me 'you'll be fine, I promise....' I closed my eyes, breathing deeply. When I opened them I was shocked that the teacher was on her way to the classroom already. "Oh, Samantha..." She seemed worried. " did one of the students pester you?" She asked seemingly ready to jump in and punish someone. "No ma'am, I just felt too nervous to go inside." I replied politely. "Oh ok." She smiled at me. "let me introduce you then." I nodded as a response this time not trusting my voice to be as solid. She walked inside the classroom and I nervously shuffled in behind her. "Hello class!!! How was your weekend?" Most of them answered but I could see some just looking out into the distance. "This is Samantha she is a new student, please treat her with respect and kindness as you would all your classmates." She announced and I waved at the class with a small, crooked, smile. She pushed me in the direction of her pointed finger where there was an empty desk. It was next to the guy who brought me here. He was laughing silently with his friends At some inside joke. "Ok, it's a study period right now since miss Park won't be able to make it today." All the students cheered softly and moved around when Mrs.Lee left. I sat in my chair sitting still trying to be unnoticed by the class while I brought my book out from my bag. "Hey, Samantha or something!" Some kid yelled causing me to fumble my book and possibly make the whole class laugh. I looked in the persons direction, it was the class representatives group of friends. I walked over to them noticing their, none to subtle, hand motions. "Hello, my name is Taemin and this is Jonghyun and Kibum" he pointed to the other two boys including the class representative. "You can hang out with us if you want!" Taemin said to me I nodded and pulled my chair over. "So, what do you guys usually do during study periods?" I asked quite curious about the chaos in the classroom. "This" the boy, Jonghyun, replied. "Oh" I replied. The weeks trailed past this way until we had all planned to go hang out, outside school, during the weekend. Kibum was waiting at the meeting place early, while you were just leaving the house. It was about twenty minutes before you arrived at the meeting place spotting Kibum waiting patiently. I took off my sunglasses to appreciate his features before he noticed me. I walked up to him ready to ask if I was late. "You're not late. I'm just super early" he said to me before I opened my mouth. My phone buzzed notifying me of a text from Taemin.
Taemin
Hey, Samantha I can't make
it I caught a cold
Ok, take care of your health
Thank you but please feel free
to enjoy the day with Kibum
Ok, bye~
"Hey, Samantha. I just got a text from Jonghyun saying he forgot he had to help his grandpa today. But he said we could still go..." He said looking a bit nervous. I nodded my head after showing him my texts with Taemin. We walked down to the café we were going to eat at. Kibum opening the door for me politely. I had already sat down while Kibum went to order. I watched him despite all the interesting things around me. He brought back a lemonade and slice of cake for me while he just had coffee and a muffin. When we were done eating we headed to the mall where we did some shopping and played around trying stuff on. He would critique me on what I was wearing saying "not your color" or "nope put it back". It made me smile at how attentive he was with me. By the time we were done, it was already dark. He offered to walk me home and I agreed being nervous about the dark. We walked silently for a ways, losing all the fun at the mall. He stopped walking causing me to bump into him. "I know you like me..." He said I blushed rapidly trying to find an excuse. "I like you too. Samantha.." He turned around to face me and pushed his warm lips against mine. An effort probably to hide his blushing face. I kissed back wanting this moment to stay forever. "Kibum..." I muttered when we pulled away. "You might want to run..." He looked in the direction I was looking. A terrified look crossed his features and then he ran for dear life before my father came up to me asking who that was. "that's my boyfriend, dad." I replied with a huge smile plastered across my face.
