A year ago a close family member past and I said my final goodbyes to a person who was so dear to my heart. So today I wanted to write something special for her.

A Spoonful

A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down.
That's what they say, but what medicine do I take
To make the pain of losing you go away?
Maybe spend a day or two sharing my tears with
Jim, jack, Samuel, or Remy.
Their strength may bring back memories of the past but soon
They will be washed away leaving me a dark night I will not be privileged to remember.
A spoonful of liquid sugar to help the pain go away
Though the memories I want to keep close and hold dear
For through memories I can once again
Hold your hand as you comfort me and give me strength
Or hear your voice as you encourage me to continue my life dreams and ambitions.
I could hug you one more time and in the memory of that hug,
I'll hold you close, tell you I love you and never let go.
A spoonful to hold back cups, quarts, gallons of
Memories, regret, pain, sadness
Love.
I found my medicine.
A spoonful of the memories and happiness we shared to help the ache of losing you go away.
And in that spoon that I shall set aside in dedication to you will be mor than love and joy
You will be there always close and at last at peace.
