Silent Storms

17 1 1

Tumbling leaves in the violent wind

As the rains tilts aside

Each fumbling branch whips and bends

As the skies tear and growl

Streaks of crippled light

Sear the clouds

The air quivers with thunder

Yet as this violent outburst quakes

It is only silence that rings

I stand calm against the skies

Behind this sheet of glass

Each droplet gathers against my window

Each blast of wind deflected

Each snapping branch can do no harm

Each violent boom is silenced

Each bolt cannot touch

Such storms of massive intensity

So beautiful in their destruction

Cannot impress upon my frail body

Behind the sheet of glass
