Crane was now certain that he had finally gone insane. If there was any previous doubt about it, that was gone. He was convinced that he had crossed into the realm of the madman. Crane was positive about this with absolute conviction from the moment he heard the voice.
He had placed his hand on Abbie's gravestone and began to tell her about what was happening. He hadn't yet told her about Sarafina, who seemed to be a complete stranger and a close friend at the same time. Then, he heard the voice.
It started as a chuckle at something he had said. Crane looked around, but was unable to determine the source. Nobody was visibly near him. But he only became suspicious of his sanity when the same voice actually spoke.
He was about to walk away when the voice said, "I'm coming for you, Crane."
Now, Ichabod Crane had received his fair share of threats. However, this one was by far the most frightening. Maybe it was because he heard it in his head. Maybe it was because it sounded more like a promise than a threat. Maybe it was because Abbie's voice had said it.
Maybe it was because he could tell it was true.
___________________________Sarafina was convinced that at this point she was hanging on to her last strands of sanity. As she shuffled through the cemetery, attempting to look inconspicuous (even though she wasn't doing anything that could rouse suspicion) she could swear that her feet weren't her own. It felt as if she was being pulled in certain direction. Maybe it was all in her head, but then again- she didn't feel like herself lately.
Even so, she found her way to a separate entrance. The unseen force that seemed to be pushing her along nudged her feet forward. Sarafina would not have had any scruples against this, if she hadn't seen a colonial coat. In her entire life, Sarafina had seen only one person wear a coat like that.
Of course he was here. It just figured that he would be there. At least he wasn't with that girl-Jenny. Jenny was definitely more wary of Sarafina than he was. Sarafina didn't blame her, but if she was meeting either of them alone, she rather him. He just seemed more, open? Understanding? She wasn't sure which, but it didn't matter, because her feet had decided to start moving again.
As she drew near, she prepared herself for another extremely awkward encounter.

Any day now...
That's what Abbie used to think with each passing day she was stuck in the Catacombs. Abbie hoped she wouldn't have to wait to be saved like that again. But now, she was thinking the same exact thought. It had been more than three weeks now. She was expecting that fabled white light to come and get her any minute now. Where was it? She sincerely hoped this wasn't simply a refurbished Purgatory. Goodness knows she'd had enough of that place in her lifetime.
Then why? Why was she still here? She wanted to move on. When Abbie first came here, she believed that she was at peace with her decision. She had made everything right with Danny, with Jenny, with her father. She felt that Crane could handle the world on his own. But now, every day she felt guilty. There was always something else she wanted to do. She wanted to experience cases that didn't involve demons. She wanted to enjoy life without constant threat. She wanted to be there for Jenny as Jenny grieved Joe. And she had seen that movie preview a few days before... dying?
In fact, the longer she dwelled on it, the more it seemed to her that she wasn't exactly dead. Yes, there had been a funeral, and she knew she had a headstone in the cemetery. There was a coffin, a wake. She was sure that people visited, believing her body to be there. She knew that Crane probably went there several times a week. In fact, the only thing missing was Abbie. Despite being dead, she knew that no body had turned up. She knew because she still was corporeal. The last person to be taken to the afterlife corporeally, that she knew of, was the Virgin Mary. Abbie was fairly sure that she was nowhere near that holy.
So, where did that leave her? The only thing that Abbie could think of was that she wasn't really dead.
Abbie wondered if this is what it was like for Crane. Did he know if he was entirely dead? Maybe Abbie would just appear on the surface of the Earth one day. She wouldn't be the first witness to come back from the dead.
But was she really dead?

Sarafina would be lying if she said that she didn't sigh audibly when she saw Crane begin to leave. She would be lying if she said that relief didn't wash over her. And she'd be lying if she said that she didn't do a complete 180 degree turn when he walked back. (And now we come to the beginning of the chapter :P)
After her small panic attack passed, she turned again and continued walking. She was so close that she felt it would be more trouble to go back than to proceed. What exactly was she close to? Sarafina had come here on half a hunch that she would find something. Maybe an answer as to why this was happening. Something that would explain why she had another person's memories in her head. Maybe this "Abbie Mills" was the key to it all.
Or maybe Sarafina was insane.
___________________________
By now, Crane had heard Abbie's voice several times. After that first time, she said not to be afraid. She said that the girl he and Jenny had met yesterday had some
thing to do with this. Crane tried to ignore it. Abbie was gone, that was reality. She couldn't telepathically speak to him, that was reality. Abbie's voice insisted that Crane listen. A part of him wanted to listen, but he so badly desired to move on. Listening to a legitimate voice in his head, even Abbie's voice, would only drive him farther down the path of insanity. It wouldn't bring her back.
Then again, did he know anything else that would?
___________________________
Abbie had begun to feel things. She didn't know why, but she realized while sitting in a café booth that she was hearing something. Voices. It had only started yesterday, and made itself clear today. The voices were that of Crane and an unknown female.
Abbie would have been worried about this if she wasn't preoccupied with trying to figure out which plane of existence she was in. However, the first thing she thought, was maybe it went both ways. So she tried to test it out. She laughed a bit at something he said to her every now and then.
That's when she realized that the woman, Sarafina George, had something to do with it. Abbie was hearing her, too. This could be what it took to get back home. She told Crane that she was coming for him, and tried to allay his fears and explain a little. Abbie still couldn't tell if he heard her or not, she could only hope that he did.
Abbie wasn't entirely sure how, but she was going back. She could feel it. She was close.
A/N: I'm sorry it took so long for this chapter to come out. I really didn't know exactly how I wanted to proceed. Thanks for the patience, and thank you for 170 reads! This story has officially become my most popular story, so I am so grateful to all of you readers. I hope the chapter was worth the wait!
In other news, Sleepy Hollow is going to have a fourth season! Hooray! Unfortunately, the show will probably lose pretty much everything I personally love about it.
1. It's being moved to D.C. Tell me this, HOW CAN YOU HAVE A SHOW CALLED SLEEPY HOLLOW IN WASHINGTON D.C.?! It doesn't make sense!
2. They are attempting to replace Abbie with a character that will resemble Dana Scully from "The X-Files" in nature(i.e. Independent minded, skeptical, etc.) Yes, "The X-Files" is one of my all time favorite shows, but I don't want to watch 2 different versions of basically the same thing!
3. Five new characters are being added. Unfortunately, Sophie, Reynolds, Joe(Obviously), Pandora(also obvious), and Abbie(most obvious) will no longer be a part of it. Basically, Everybody except Crane and Jenny is removed from the show.
4. ABBIE NOOOO!!! WHYYYYY?!?!😭😭😭
And that concludes my rant. Feel free to tell me what your opinion on Season 4 is in the comments!
