5 years, 3 months, 1 week, and 4 days; ashton's been cancer-free.

3 years, 6 months, 2 weeks, and 5 days; ashton's been with calum.

3 years, 2 weeks, and 2 days; ashton's been in love with calum.

0 years, 0 weeks, and 3 days; ashton and calum's luck ran out.

calum always told himself he would die alone. when he found ashton he didn't have to anymore, and he liked that.

when he met ashton they were both walking different ways on a cold, dark, and lonely street. but calum couldn't help but notice that the ashton's eyes were even colder, darker, and lonelier.

when calum stopped Ashton to ask him why he looked so lost, the emptiness in his eyes was replaced with surprise.

calum remembers how he led ashton to the bench.

he remembers how they talked for hours.

he remembers how he saw something change for the boy with hazel eyes sat next to him.

"I never caught your name by the way? mine's ashton."

"calum. but you can call me cal."

"cal. I like that."

calum was sat in his living room thinking of when he met his now boyfriend and how far they've come.

he had heart eyes for the boy with sandy blond hair and a thing for drums then, and nothing's changed.

in fact it's only gotten worse. his heart eyes for ashton now were practically popping out of his head. 

the boy in question is on his way to calum's apartment for movie night.

a knock on his door had calum up and on his feet brushing his dark hair out of his eyes.

he didn't think he would ever get over how beautiful ashton was.

every time he sees him it's like the first and he will never get enough.

after dinner calum remembers ashton saying he had something to tell him.

he remembers finding it funny because he also had something to say but, he lets ashton go first.

he watches the boy in front of him take a deep breath, his eyes glossing over, and upon seeing this calum reaches to grab his hand.

he remembers how relieved and appreciative ashton looked a this small gesture.

he will never forget the words he next spoke.

"calum I had cancer."

he remembers how rushed it sounded and how it took his breath away in the worst manner.
