"So, do you want tea, coffee, or just a glass of water?" I tried breaking the ice between the two of us since the last 2 minutes of silence. He looked up from the ground and politely asked for a cup of tea as he gave me that adorable smile of his.
I walked into the kitchen and heated some water in a kettle. Breaking the silence, he suddenly spoke, "The place looks nice. I'd like to visit sometime when it's already opened." He eye smiled at me. For a moment, I thought I was talking to an angel, "Y-yeah, Eonni likes decorating and stuff." Still stiff from the short conversation, I shuffled to the cupboard to get a teabag but it was way too high for me to reach.
A hand went over mine which was struggling to reach the rack. "Here." He smiled and gave me the box of tea. I smiled in return and uttered a 'thank you', and proceeded to tear the packet and place it in a porcelain teacup.
While waiting for the water to boil, I tried starting a conversation with him, "So your Mom paints, I guess you paint too?"
He shook his head, "My hands aren't built for that but I do dance." I was more intrigued about him when he mentioned dancing. I fancy watching dancers because they're really passionate in what they do and they're very hard working.
"Jazz, ballet, modern, hip-hop? Which genres?" My eyes lit up in eagerness as I bombarded him with questions, he chuckled at my enthusiasm. "Mostly contemporary and hip-hop, locking and popping. Do you dance?" He asked me which made me laugh and he shot me a confused look.
"You're making me laugh. I have two left feet. I can't. I'm terrible at it."
"I'll teach you." He offered me his hand which I hesitated to reach for. Somehow his words made my heart do flips and surely, I did not like it.
"I-I really can't." As I said that, the kettle whistled and I hurriedly got my mittens and poured the scorching hot water into the teacup. I let the teabag infuse in the water and looked back at Jimin who I caught was watching me the whole time. He got startled and quickly looked away.
"Have you ever been in any dance competitions?" I was curious about him, very.
"You've asked a lot about me. It's unfair that I'm the only one answering." He pouted at me which I found extremely unpredictable for someone like him.
"Okay" I snorted a laugh in timidness, "What do you want to know?" His lips formed a thin line as he pondered about the questions he was meaning to ask.
"Everything." He said.
"I like pandas, dogs too. The colors blue and...um, just blue. I'm surrounded by guys, I honestly don't know why. I like fried chicken and..." I was running out of things to say and I'm pretty sure the facts that came out of my mouth were kind of pointless, idiotic, and he wouldn't care about them actually.
"Is that all?" He gave me an 'are-you-serious' look and motioned me to keep talking about myself. I whined in reply,
"Eh, I'm a pretty boring person, okay?" I sighed, "There's really not much to know." He chuckled at my meek response.
He was open and he had a good sense of humor, far from what I thought he actually was: A selfish snob. I guess I shouldn't judge a book by its cover. His eyes, however, make me curiouser about him. He had this gaze that would want to lure you into his galaxy, it was as if I belonged to his world but somehow was accidentally torn apart from him.
The bells' chime interrupted our flowing conversation. The door swung open and revealed my sister who was carrying multiple boxes on her arms. "Hyeji-ah, help." Her muffled words were barely heard because of the boxes covering her mouth. I picked up a box from her arms and so did Jimin.
I shook my head at his action. Well, that was nice of him. "Oh, you're still here, Jimin." Hyejeong noticed Jimin once his figure appeared, she didn't expect him to have stayed.
"Thanks for keeping my Hyeji company." She returned to the car to fetch the other boxes.
I noticed the clock hanging on the sky blue wall, "Jimin-ssi, it's kind of late. Aren't you supposed to go home?" I asked to which he replied with a small grin, "Don't worry, I'm a guy, I can come home any time."
I rolled my eyes at him and clicked my tongue. "Be it a guy or a girl, this late at night, you should really get going." I insisted.
"Do you not want me here?" He pouted. "I do!" I blurted out quite loudly and I covered my mouth right away. "Woah, okay then, I won't leave just yet." He winked at me. He was probably startled by my loud reply.
"Jimin-ssi! It was really nice meeting you. We didn't get to talk but we'd love for you to come back." Hyejeong grinned widely. "Yup. I will." Jimin replied and returned the smile, then he turned to me. "See you, Hyeji." He waved goodbye and left.
I couldn't help but smile at the thought of meeting a stranger that clicked with me so well. It'd be nice if he visited soon because it's only been minutes since he left but it already feels like a decade.
