 Tessa's POV

"And you believe him?" Monty asked Jasper.

"Yes, I believe him. Clarke left us, Monty. She faked being crazy to get into medical and she took off."

"She didn't leave us, Jasper. She went to get us help," I answered.

"We need to go after her," Monty said. The door behind us slammed shut and we looked behind us. It was Maya.

"Where are you going?" Jasper asked as Monty went over to his bunk.

"The dropship, for starters," Monty said packing a bag.

"Monty, wait you can't go by yourself," I said. He looked at me.

"I'm sorry but watch me," he said and went back to packing. I sighed.

"I just heard, you're leaving?" Maya asked.

"Yes, we are," Monty said.

"No, we are not," Jasper said. Maya looked at me.

"I have no idea," I answered for myself.

"What would Clarke do?" Monty asked.

"No, you can't. It's too dangerous." Maya said.

"Don't worry. I'm a coward."

"No, you're not. You're smart. You can't make her come back."

"Monty's right. She would go after me, but why am I so scared to do the same thing?" Jasper asked himself. Maya didn't answer.

"Whoa." Jasper said as Maya's face started to turn red.

"Radiation. There's a containment breach." she gasped as an alarmed blared. She grabbed her key card and ran to the door.

"How?"

"I don't know," she whimpered once her key card didn't work against the reader.

"What do we do?" Monty asked.

"Help!" Maya gasped. I ran over to the door and started to bang on it.

"Open the door!" I screamed hoping someone would hear. Jasper gasped once he saw Maya's burned face. He ran over to the door with me and started banging on it too.

"Help! Help!" we screamed.

"Temperature is 104 and rising," Tsing said checking something off of her clipboard.

"Blood pressure, 180 over 120. Blister coverage, now 75 percent. Standard treatment isn't working." she continued.

"Wait, what does that mean? Is there a nonstandard treatment?" Jasper asked.

"Well, there is one thing we could try." she answered looking up from her clipboard.

"What are you waiting for?" Jasper asked.

"It's unorthodox. Because you were raised in space, your circulatory systems developed the ability to filter radiation out of your blood. Now, it's just a theory, but if we were to circulate Maya's blood through your system-"

"We could make her better," Jasper finished for her.

"What happens to him?" I asked worried for Jasper's health.

"I'm not sure," she said.

"I know that look. Don't even think about it, it's too dangerous." Monty said to Jasper.
