"Hello, thank you for calling Lily's. How may I help you?" I spoke into the phone.
"Yes, I am calling to see if my package has arrived yet."
"Can I have your name and number that came with the purchase, please."
There was some movement before the woman spoke again. "H-Hello?" She said.
I chuckled, "Yes ma'am, I'm still here."
"My name is Maria and the package number is 342276."
I balanced the phone between my ear and my shoulder as I typed up her name and package number on the computer.
"Hello ma'am?"
"Yes, is it there?"
"Yes ma'am. You can come get it today if you'd like."
"I'll have my nephew come get it later on today." She said with a sigh of relief.
"Okay. Thank you for shopping with Lily's. Have a nice day."
"You too sweetie." She spoke sweetly.
I hung the phone up and went to the back to get her package. Once I found it I walked back to the front and put it under the desk.
In the past month I've obviously got a job, I work at a clothing store called Lily's. I don't really like it that much, but it pays well so I can't complain. August and I have been doing really good, he's respected my choice of taking things slow. School has been going good, Keith and I are becoming closer, as friends.
We graduate in 2 months and I can't wait. My friendship with Lola is kind of rocky now since August and I have tried to build a relationship. She throws shade every time he's around and I hate it. As far as Mike goes I haven't heard from or of him in a while, and I'm very thankful for that. I've been doing good without him, I don't have to live my life in fear anymore. Fear of him hitting me, fear of the house getting shot at, and fear of him sexually abusing me.
I walked around the store seeing if anybody needed help and picked up clothes off the floor that people didn't pick up themselves. I looked up when I heard the sound of the welcome bell ringing.
"Hello and welcome to Lily's" I smiled at the women walking in with two strollers.
I put the clothes back where they were supposed to go and then walked back to the cash register, opening my line so the other line wouldn't be as long.
"Thank ya'chile'." Shawn said.
I chuckled, "Mhm."
"Hello Ma'am. Did you find everything you needed?" I asked as I started to ring the clothes up.
She nodded her head yea and smiled. "You're total is $35.59."
She pulled out a crisp $50 and I handed her her bag, change, and receipt.
"Have a good day."
I checked out the rest of the people and then closed my cash register.
"I'm bouta go on my lunch break, I gotta date in 10 mins." Shawn said as he walked to the back to get his stuff.
I looked at the time and chuckled, "Shawn it's not even time yet." I said.
"Chiile you ain't hear what I just said. I have a date, and this man is fine. I'm not finna ruin my chance 'cause of this stupid ass job." He said getting his keys from his purse.
A few people glanced at us and I just smiled nervously. "Shawn you gotta lower your voice. What time you coming back?" I walked around the counter.
