Chapter 4

I layed in bed that night thinking about everything that I had saw and heard. I haven't been that scared since having to confirm that it was my family that they found dead.

Was Zayn in a gang? No...that couldn't be it. It just didn't make since to me, we have absolutely no gangs in our neighborhood. But then again it did. The tattoos, the anger, that man. It fit perfectly but with this town?

I fell asleep thinking about that and awoke the next morning to a banging on my door. I instantly shot up and had to keep myself from screaming. It reminded me of the nightmares I used to have when my family was killed.

I hesitantly got out of bed and pulled on my robe, slowly making my way to the door. Whoever it was seemed impatient considering when I didn't answer the door quickly they banged on it again. "I'm coming!" I shouted annoyed at whoever it was awaking me from my peaceful sleep.

I opened the door and froze. Wide eyed I stared at him. Zayn. Why was he here at 8 in the goddamn morning?!

"I uh forgot my pair of keys at a friends house, let me borrow yours." He was looking me straight in the eyes, I shifted onto my other leg, feeling uncomfortable. I rolled my eyes at how he clearly had no manners whatsoever . "Sure." I tried not to sound rude but I think I may have failed by the way he narrowed his eyes at me. He should stop doing that, it gets annoying.

I walked quickly into my bedroom, opening my bedside table with my spares in it. I grabbed the set of keys and closed the drawer, walking back out of my room.

See the only bad thing about this complex is that we all have the same key, I guess the manager was too lazy to make them all different.

Zayn was standing in my living room looking at my old family pictures. Memories fought their way to the front of my mind but I pushed them back not wanting to make a scene.

I cleared my throat letting him know that I was in here with him. He snapped his head towards me not expecting me to be there. He set the picture down and made his way over to me. The strange thing was, the way he moved. He seemed so graceful, like nothing could make him fall out of step in the world. It seemed like he had already lived life. I shook away the thoughts and handed the keys over to him. "Here, don't lose this one, it's my only spare." I muttered, looking anywhere but his eyes knowing he was already looking at me. "Don't worry." He began walking back out of my apartment when he turned back to look at me as his hand was on the knob of the door. My breath caught in my throat not expecting him to turn back.

"What exactly did you here last night?" He slowly made his way back over to me making me freeze. I swear I stopped breathing. That was the same thing 'Jace' had asked last night. I debated on telling the truth or lying again. "If you were to tell the truth you wouldn't have to hesitate." He was now only a couple of feet away from me. Close enough to where I could feel his minty breath against my face. I sighed deciding I would just tell the truth. "I heard you say you could get whatever you want whenever you want." He smirked and nodded his head to show he understood.

He leaned over and brought his mouth down to my ear. "You better believe it to."
