After work I always stop by this little cafe just to get my mind off of things. I used to go there with my dad all the time when I was a little girl. He used to tell me stories about his past and about how my mom and him met. He used to say it was love at first sight. When I looked at my parents, when anyone looked at my parents, you could tell they still loved each other as much as they had when they first met. But maybe a little more.

Once I had gotten to the cafe i took a quick whiff of the air. I hummed in satisfaction when I smelled the freshly baked bread and cakes. Unlike the restaurant I work at, this cafe is so calm and peaceful.

I sat down in my regular seat by the window and waited for someone to come take my order. I stared out the window aimlessly, thinking about the Diner and the three boys I had met. When I first saw them I instantly felt like they were danger because of their tattoos and piercings but my mother always said, "Don't ever judge a book by it's cover" Just like you should never judge a person by their looks. I figured maybe I just misunderstood them because of their looks, but as soon as the blonde one, I think his name was Nate, Nick?, I'm not sure, but as soon as he opened his mouth I knew they were just another group of boys who thought they were bad ass.

I didn't realize someone was ready for my order until they tapped on my shoulder. I looked up and saw a young girl, probably my age. She had blonde hair just past her breasts with green sparkling eyes. I could tell that she could probably have any boy she wanted.

"Hi, my name's Rose and I'll be serving you today" Her voice was very cheery and nice. I returned the smile she sent me and ordered a simple Vanilla Latte.

As I was waiting for my order I looked around the cafe. I recognized everything but for some reason, something felt out of place. I couldn't quite put my finger on it but I'm sure something was missing or something was new. It was then I saw a plaque hanging above the window where I am sitting. "Reese Moyer 1960-2013, Great and inspiring father, also one of our best costumers."

I felt tears well up in my eyes as I read the plaques in graving of my fathers name and qualities. I hadn't realized the Cafe had taken such notice of him. But then again I wasn't surprised, my dad could light up a room just by his presence. I felt a tear escape my eye and hastily wiped it away before anyone could see.

Just then Rose came back with my order and happy look on her face, you could tell that she loved her life. "Here you go, sorry for the wait, as you can tell we're pretty packed today." She said sweetly. "No no, it's fine I was caught up in my own thoughts anyway." I smiled up at her and she returned it just as nice. "It was nice meeting you.." She dragged the end of her sentence out indicating that she wasn't sure what my name was yet. "Caroline" She gave me a simple nod "It was nice meeting you Caroline" And with that, she turned away and walked over to another table to serve a couple.

I sipped at my Latte for what seemed like hours but I knew it had only been a few minutes. Once I was finished I left a $5 tip for Rose and made my way out.

I hugged my jacket tighter to my body as I felt the winter breeze. I kept a light pace as I was walking home but stopped in front of the college my dad used to work at. He was an English professor. I quickly started walking again not wanting to cry and make a scene.

Once I was in front of my apartment building I noticed a moving truck. I narrowed my eyes wondering who could be moving in under such short notice. I shook my head thinking I probably just haven't been up to date lately. As I walked in I stopped by the mail room unlocking my box and looking through my bills. All the mail I usually got were bills. I sighed to myself as I saw how cheap my electricity bill was this month. I didn't have a lot of expensive bills considering I didn't really ever do much.

I saw a couple moving boxes across the hall from my apartment and wondered if they needed any help. I decided I would ask after I set my stuff down. I walked into my apartment and quickly put away my purse and keys and made my way out. I took a deep breath preparing for actually being social for once. I gently knocked on the door and waited for someone to open it. The door opened and my breath caught at who I saw.

Oh no.

He narrowed his eyes at me and tilted his head. "Are you following me?" His voice was just as raspy as it was back at the restaurant. "N-No I liv-ve just across the hall." I managed to get out with out sounding like a complete idiot. He tilted his head as if he was confused or in deep thought. "Alright. But what are you doing here?" The way he said it made it sound like the most obvious question. "I came to see if you needed any help. But I didn't know it was you, so I-I guess I'll just head back." I said turning around. As I closed the door to my apartment I could feel his eyes burning holes into the back of my head.
